    1. [GASCREVE] W. B. Young, 1860 Marion Co, GA
    2. Gregory Drexel
    3. Hi Charlotte. I found this listing for 1860 Marion County Census on Young. Is this your Martha? YOUNG, Emma R. age 3 place born GA Frances A.P. 12 " Martha A. 10 " Sarah C. 5 " Seaborn M. 9 " Susan M. 33 " Thomas N. 14 " W. B. 44 " William J. 17 " The reason I was looking in Marion County, GA (county seat Buena Vista, GA) was because my Henderson line, Wm. Michael Henderson, married, in 1865, (Cynthia) Anne Brown in Marion County, GA. And her brother, Dr. James Franklin Brown, had married Wm. Michael Henderson's sister, who lived in Screven County, GA, along with the other Henderson family. Wm. Michael's sister was named 'Anne Elizabeth' Henderson, and she married Dr. Brown in 1855 in Screven County, GA. And there is, in 1850, a "Young", as well as Henderson and Brown, on the Marion Co., GA census, but I don't know the first name yet. It seems that Marion County, GA was settled in the late 1820's and early 1830's and later by many "well off middle Georgia" families, and my mother remembers my great grandmother, Annie Laurie Henderson Farr, along with her sisters Lottie Henderson and Mary Henderson Overstreet going to Buena Vista and Albany and Thomasville, GA to get beautiful camelia bushes to transplant or make cuttings from for their garden near Cameron, Screven County, GA! So how did they all meet each other in the first place...prior to 1855 when Ann Elizabeth Henderson married Dr. James Franklin Brown? Were they all in Screven and Bulloch Counties to start? 1. [GASCREVE] Remer family of New Jersey
    2. Gregory Drexel
    3. Hello. I am a researcher of my family surnames HENDERSON, REMER, YOUNG, JONES, FARR, GREENE, MCCALL, BROWN. I saw your post about a Bryan Remer on the rootsweb site. I'm sorry that I cannot help you with any CAIN information. But I would like to know if you have run across anything about an ELIZABETH or MARIE REMER who would have married anytime after 1750? I have found, in 1764, a New Jersey marriage of a Michael Henderson to an Elizabeth Remer, but Marie to Michael Henderson sometime in London, England, and sailing for 'the new world', with ties to your Remer's of New Jersey or New York would certainly work. Perhaps your Bryan had an aunt or mother or grandmother named Elizabeth Remer Henderson or Marie Remer Henderson? I am just starting my search for Miss or Mrs. Elizabeth or Marie Remer Henderson, who married my ancestor, (Captain) Michael Henderson or William Henderson as either given names would work. They would have ended up in South Carolina or Georgia, and married into the Young family of Christ Church Parish (Savannah, GA) in Colonial times. Does anything sound familiar, or can you possibly point me in the correct direction? I live in Fort Worth, Texas, and it is difficult to find documented East Coast, especially Colonial New York, New Jersey information here. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have. Thank you. 2. Gregory Drexel
    3. Hi there. I was reviewing old messages and came across this one. Since this time in Dec., I found an old plat made in Screven County for the Estate of James Young, Sr., dated 1854. It shows an area of Southwest Screven County on the Ogeechee River, right across from the Bulloch County line. I'm still searching for my Hendersons. The story goes that a Nancy Henderson, daughter of Captain Michael Henderson, married Jacob Nevils in c. 1789? I think. And then when I found this plat, right next to the old Henderson/Young place, in Screven County (old Cameron, GA), I found an adjacent land owner, "LEE". What makes me wonder even more, when looking at your list of children, I see a name "Lottie Lee". And then with Dicey and Nicey Lee, same names as Nevils daughters of Nancy (Henderson) Nevils and her husband Jacob Nevil(s), I just had to ask. I can't figure out where the name "Lee" came from , possibly historic, but hopefully another family surname, of which I have yet to tap. Are you any relation to Mr. Earl Lee of Statesboro? He is good friends of my family. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Backman@webtv.net> To: <WIREGRASS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 26, 1999 8:25 PM Subject: Re: My Andrew Jackson Lee (Jr?) b. 1858 > Hello Charles, nice to hear from another computer cousin. 2. Hi Sherry I'm so glad. This marriage is one I also found on LDS, and am trying to validate, because some other researchers are convinced that Isham married the daughter of one William Brown and that there is a deed in Bulloch which shows property being passed on..... I am connected to Isham thru his son Allen, thru his son Joseph, and thru his daughter, Elizabeth, who married my gggrandfather, James Herschel Thompson in 1885. Thanks for your reply. Gloria :-)

    2. Gloria, You didn't offend me........I just got a little annoyed with someone else on the list who was making a point to me, that was taken...............did not include you. Sorry about that. The marriage date that I have was obtained from LDS and that is why I too am trying to confirm......I have the Bulloch Co marriage records from Bulloch Co website and though they include 1796 etc., the marriage is not documented for Isham and Mary. It's often difficult to source data so far back..........I know because I have stacks of information on many families. Are you an Ellarbee descendant? My husband is a descendant of Ellarbee and Stafford. Sherry

    1. [GASCREVE] Re: [GA-Roots] Re: Marriage of Laura Williams to Thomas Young, 1861, and Laura W. Young, widow, m. John Gideon Blitch, 1871
    2. Gregory Drexel
    3. Hello Jane. Laura Williams married, in 1861, Thomas Jones Young. So she would be Laura W. Young. When Thomas was killed in the Civil War, after the war, she married John Gideon Blitch, but that wasn't until 1871. Thomas and Laura W. Young had a few children, I believe, but all died very young. Only one daughter, Mary Thomas Young, survived. Now that is what Mr. Blitch wrote to me. This is what A. C. Felton, in 1955, wrote for "The Young Family of Georgia". The early part was also used for the basis of paperwork for Wm. Spain's Colonial Dames papers, going in under "Elizabeth Young". A. C. Felton was another Young descendant, himself, of Macon, GA. (notes added in () are from Mrs. Alvaretta Kenan Register) p. 44. THOMAS JONES YOUNG. b. 1830 (1827) d. January 12, 1865 (buried in Young Cemetery, Bulloch County, GA) (Bulloch County toombstone says d. Jan. 12, 1865, age 38 years) m. LAURA WILLIAMS on September 3, 1861. She was born August 2, 1844, and died December 20, 1921. 1. (Little Jimmie Young, son of Thomas and Laura Young b. 9-8-1862, d. 9-23-1864, 2 years 15 days, toombstone record, Young Cemetery) 2. MARY THOMAS YOUNG. b. November 9, 1864. m. DANIEL CORNELIUS ASHLEY on June 27, 1888. He was born on June 18, 1859, and died May 22, 1920. His parents were Dr. William ASHLEY and GEORGIANNA SMITH ASHLEY. Five children: a. Laura Ashley, b. September 13, 1889 m. Dr. Frank Bird on Feb. 19, 1916. He was born on June 30, 188? plus all their descendants. Unfortunately, there is no marriage data here for the widow Laura Williams Young's marriage to Blitch. Nor any mention of any further children, if they had any. Perhaps Mr. Parish Blitch could give you that data, as this is not my primary line. Perhaps Mary Thomas Young was adopted by John Gideon Blitch, and hence she took the last name of Blitch instead of Young, or was nicknamed for her father, Tommie, and her adopted father, Blitch. Also, there is no death or burial information for Mary Thomas Young, either. I'm afraid that is all the information that I have on the Blitch family.
