    3. Yes. (Heaven Forbid) John Owen Smith is my Ggrandfather. He was married to Sarah Josette Mock b. 1856 in Screven Co. He was b. 1843 in England and was from Savannah perhaps. Anyway, they were married before 1879 because that is the first child born of their marriage that I can find. I owuld like to find a record of their marriage because I can't find anything on him before I see their first child. Since she was 23 at that birth she may have had a previous husband or maybe they had other children. He was probaly married before that also but I don't know that. If you can find John or Sarah, it would be a big help to me. No rush. Thanks. 3. Hi Nancy, I noticed the following: "The Republican & Savannah Evening Ledger" "On Thursday the 14th ult., by Rev. McCall, at the plantation of Mr. James Platt, Mr. Zachariah CORSEY to Miss Elizabeth CASWELL, both of Screven County, Oct. 3rd, 1809. Wouldn't that name actually be CARSWELL. There have been lots of Carswells in neighboring Burke Co. Given all of the apparent misspellings in the rest of the newspaper entries, then this would seem another likely misspelling. Just a suggestion of what / where to look.
