    1. [GASCREVE] BIRD/DASHER Marriage - Israel's Will
    2. Maureen McCarthy
    3. Most records I've read state Ann BIRD; daughter of James and Sarah SMITH BIRD married Christian DASHER, Jr. My question is how can Ann Bird d/o James and Sarah BIRD who was born in 1807 have married Christian DASHER on 31 January 1801? Or was Ann BIRD who married Christian DASHER, Jr. the daughter of Israel Robeson and Anna STAFFORD BIRD and not the daughter of James Robeson BIRD, son of Israel and Anna Stafford BIRD? Important dates: Ann Bird b: 07 Oct. 1807 d: 20 September 1843 (d/o James 1772-1819 & Sarah BIRD) Ann Bird b: 02 Sep. 1778 d: 02 June 1852 (d/o Israel 1738-1802 & Anna BIRD "as yet proven") If these birth dates are correct it was impossible for Ann BIRD, d/o James Robeson & Sarah BIRD to marry Christian DASHER in 1801. If these dates are incorrect please let me know. Does anyone know if the information below refers to the will of Israel BIRD 1738-1802 or one of his descendant? The following is information from a website posting: "The will of Israel Bird in the Screven Co., Ga library states that he had five named sons and three unnamed daughters.Does anyone know the names of the three daughters." If anyone lives near the library in Screven County I would really appreciate a copy of this will of Israel BIRD. I am extremely interested in the names of the "five named sons". I'd also appreciate any additional information on Ann BIRD. Maureen in CA

    3. Deborah, When my mother died in 1989, I moved several bushes that she had up to my house. When we moved in 1996 to where we are now, those same flower bushes moved with me and have spread. If I ever move from here to down size my home, some of those bushes will go with me then. I also hope my kids will do the same. If I decided to get rid of my grave sites in a Mem. Garden Cem., then I want one of each to be planted at my grave site. My mother loved her flowers and I like keeping them as a memory of her. 3. A great idea! At least 3/4 of the plants in my yard are "pass-a-long plants". Lots of old fashioned plants are very easy to root and/or layer to provide new plants. You can also save seeds (in the refrigerator, in a film canister is a good way) over the winter to plant in the spring. Now is the time to gather seeds. Some perreniels can be planted now, especially in the south, to establish root systems. Even though they die back in the winter, next spring will bring new surprises! I have canna lillies and cypress vine from my paternal grandmother's place, a bleeding heart vine from my maternal grandmother's home (the story is that it limped along for years and never bloomed until the year summer after she died, and then it covered the porch and bloomed prolifically!) My husband's grandmother has given us several different colors of daylillies, and I got cuttings of yellow-bell (forsythia), hydrangea, begonias, butter-&-egg, and many other things from my and my husband's mother. These things are indeed a part of the family history, because many of them go back to another generation, or family friends. So, I would encourage anyone to try to take plants and start them in your own yard. It will be a loving and constant reminder of family, and a heritage for your own children in years to come. sorry to get off on a tangent..... gardening is another favorite thing of mine, along with genealogy! 3. Here is something that has been knocking around in the mental attic for a while. A friend of mine is redoing her garden that has a funky lilac bush in. The lilac bush comes from a cutting off of a lilac that grew on her father's farm. It is a living reminder of the old family home place. Has anyone else ever done used cuttings from plants at the family home place to keep memories alive? Apparently on one of the Byrd farms in florida was a wonderful mulberry tree that the daughters would raid for the berries. Use the berries to make play necklaces. Kinda wish I had a cutting from that tree, of course it wouldn't grow out west but it would be a nice reminder of the family. Deborah Byrd

    1. [GASCREVE] John Mikell/Michael of Marlboro 1785
    2. Deborah Byrd
    3. I have a theory about John Mikell husband of Ann Ball and wanted to kick it around and see if anyone else had checked it out. In 1785 John and Ann sold their land in Marlboro District. The shows the name spelled both ways Mikell and Michael. The memorials show a Johannes Adam Michael moving to the Pee Dee River area. A year or so lated John Michael has memorials in his name. My theory is that Johnannes Adam is John Mikells father. And that the family ties back to Johnannes Adam Micheal who married Elizabeth Thorowgood about 1660 in Virginia. I haven't been able to trace the family forward in time. The first couple of generations are included in the First Families of Virginia publication "Adventurers of Purse and Person". Has anyone else found this "connection" and pursued it, to see if there is a link between the families? Deborah Byrd
