Good luck Debby. I have been searching for Brumett Brinson for ever so long. He is from the same Brinson family as your Simeon Brinson. If you or anyone else out there have any information on Brumett I would appreciate having it. Brumett married Eolah Brown Langley on 17 Dec 1884 in Waynesboro Burke County Georgia. Several of you on this web site have tried to help me but so far Brumett remains hidden some where sooooooooooo IF anyone knows anything about Brumett please let me know. We believe he is the son of Stephen B and Elizabeth A Brinson. Savannah, January 2. On Wednesday morning the 25th untimate, three young men, viz: MR. WILLIAM HOBBES, Mr. George Threadcraft, and Mr. Bethson, attempted to cross the swamp...to Zubly's Ferry, on their way to South Carolina. Threadcraft's and Bethson's horses threw them into the swamp, Hobbes tried to save them, and his horse threw him into the swamp, he was never seen again. The other two were saved that night by Negroes in a canoe. Mr. Hobbes being an only child, and of a disposition that rendered him a comfort to his aged parents, their grief on this melancholy occasion can be better conceived than described. His corpse was found next day and interred. (GG 1/2/1800, 3:2) Savannah, August 20. died. Last Monday night in Effingham county, Mr. JOHN HOBBES. (GG 8/20/1801, 3:2) That is all. Are these two different families? I am researching Brunsons from St. George Parish (Screven Co.) and would like to know if the spelling of the surname is the only difference. My line is John and Mary Brunson who came from SC to GA in the 1780s. They were land owners in St. George Parish which I believe is now part of Screven, Burke, Bulloch, and Effingham Co. Also, these Brunsons were linked to Washington Co. also. If anyone knows about these families and if they are or if they are not kin....please let me know. Thanks. Nora >> Nora - I have been asked this before, and can find no connections between the BRUNSON and BRINSON families. The BRINSONS were in VA (Pr Anne Co, and then in Onslow Co) quite early, by early 1600's, and many came down to GA from Onslow Co, NC not long after the Revolutionary War. I know that some of the BRUNSON ancestors were in Orange Co SC by 1750. I have not done much on the BRUNSON family as they are not part of my husband's ancestry, just married into a few lines, but my husband is a direct descendant of the BRINSON family of Jefferson Co, and Johnson Co, GA as well as the BRYAN family of old Barnwell Dist, SC and Screven Co, GA.
