    1. Re: [GASCREVE] Lewis knoblock Powell, Last Civil War Soldier in Screven Co.,
    2. Dot, The person to talk to on this matter would be Alex Lee, who is a direct descendant of the Powells. I believe that Lewis Powell's (who married Temperance Rawls Scott) mother was a Knoblock, and seems that his grandfather was Adam Knoblock. I can't vouch for this, but I think that's how it goes. Anyway, see if you can raise Alex, as I know that he can help. Please keep in touch. Happy hunting! Scottie

    1. Re: [GASCREVE] Lewis knoblock Powell, Last Civil War Soldier in Screven Co.,
    2. Dot, Lewis K. Powell was the son of Temperance Rawls (Scott) and Lewis Powell. Temperance was the widow of James Scott. His brothers were Joseph Wilson Powell, Benjamin Franklin Scott, and George Washington Scott, and had several sisters, one of whom was Sarah Ann Scott Enneis. Temperance Rawls Scott Powell was the daughter of John Rawls, and the sister of Cynthia Rawls (married Starkey Bazemore) and Elizabeth Rawls (married Humphrey Bazemore, Starkey's brother). A lot of the children of Temperance and Lewis Powell married the grandchildren of James Scott by his first wife, Sarah Brunson Scott. And many of the grandchildren of all of these families intermarried. Hope that this helps. Happy hunting! Scottie Scott

    1. [GASCREVE] Info via search of google.com Bolton, Robert, also Bolton Hotel @ Tybee Island
    2. On 20 Nov 1786, Chathan Co, GA, Deed Bk D, p. 141 - John Lucas of Chatham Co sold to Robert Bolton, Jr. of Savannah, merchant, lot on south commons & Bull Street granted by Comm of Confiscated Estates 16 Jul 1784 A portion of a writeup of TYBEE ISLAND When the island became more accessible in the mid-1800s with the development of the steamboat, the general public started coming more often. Resort hotels, such as the Bolton Hotel and Ocean House, were established, and lots were sold for $200, plus $150–$200 for a frame house. Tybee's development as a resort picked up more steam after the Civil War, when public transportation to the island improved with the establishment of a rail link with Savannah in 1887. The three-hour steamboat journey was reduced to an hour train ride, if the train didn't break down. By the Roaring Twenties, more people called Tybee home, and thousands of visitors would come to the island in the summer. Hope this information may help some one looking for additional information on BOLTONS, Dot Smith
