Emily has always been a mystery to me since I can't find her on a census after 1850. Just curious, how did you find out she was buried in Barksdale Cemetery? Do you know anything else about her? The only things I know about Thomas are he was born in South Carolina (his father was born in Ireland & his mother born in South Carolina--from 1880 census records), his second wife was a Sarah Jane Brown/Parks Everett Barton Garvin McLemore, and that he had two children Emily & Basil. Basil is my 2nd great grandfather and I descend through his daughter Winnie Bell Garvin Grant. How do you relate to Thomas & Mary Garvin? Will be glad to exchange more info.
