To all: I received this message from a cousin (her father and mine were brothers). Can anybody offer information on this Garrison line?? Thank you. Daphne N. Richey (nee Garrison) >> Message from Marjorie (Garrison)Shandro<< I was browsing thru the Washington Post web-site the other day and came across a list of all the American soldiers killed in Iraq. There was a Garrison on the list - Sgt. Landis W Garrison from Rapids City, Illinois. He was in the 333rd Military Police in the Illinois National Guard and he was only 23, I think. He died of gunshot wounds in that prison we heard so much about earlier this year. It was rather odd. It wasn't clear what happened. <Clip> I didn't get all this from the Washington Post but from various Illinois papers. Anyway the boy's father was named Randy. (Incidentally there was a Vanda Landis -born 1900, died 1937- who was the daughter of Creed and Theora Garrison Whitlock. Ring any bells? Dad used to talk about a cousin Creed)
Theora Garrison Whitlock is the daughter of James and Nancy Garrison of Adair County, Kentucky. They are from the line of Valentine Garrison originally of Albemarle County, Virginia. One of Valentine's daughter's married a Landis, and it is possible that Landis Garrison is from this line.
