    2. Haven't posted for a long time. Here goes: Researching the following line: Samuel Garrison b. c. 1802 KY m. Nancy Fortenberry Aug 17 1821 Rutherford Co TN .....known children: ..........David R. b. 1825 TN ..........John R. b. 1832 IL ..........Eliza Jane b. 1842 IL ..........George W. b. 1844 IL He lived in Rutherford Co. in 1820's, and moved to Clinton Co. IL in 1830. Moved to Jasper Co. in 1840 (?), and back to Clinton Co. IL in 1850. He remained in Clinton Co., buying up farmland, until his death in 1884. He married a Mary Skein on May 27, 1852 in Clinton Co., IL, so I imagine Nancy died somewhere in 1850-1852. Suspect (cannot confirm) that he may be the son of Revolutionary War soldier Samuel Garrison of Virginia. That Samuel Garrison's Pension File Abstract (R3930) indicates that he moved to Madison Co. KY in 1812, and that he died in 1818. Application for widow and dependents lists wife as Mary Johnson Garrison, and "two births, Samuel Garrison, b. 14 Dec 180? and John Garrison b. 5 Aug. 1787". The abstract is confusing with some information, so I have contacted the Archives for info on this Samuel Garrison, but it contains little, except a scrap of a poem which has the two sons? names and dates of birth written in the white spaces. If anyone knows more, and can connect, please let me know. I will be happy to share this information. Eliza Garrison was my maternal grandfather's mother. Thanks. 3. I am looking for a connection to an Overstreet P. Garrison born abt 1824-25 in TN and was in Saline Co. IL with wife Martha by 1850. Looking at your post got my attention as your Samuel would fit as a an uncle or even father. Sorry, I have nothing further to go on. if you see any connection at all let me know. The problem I am having is he would have lived in parents house during 1840 census only showing number of children. He got married and moved to IL befor 1850 and now shows up in his own house in 1850 census in Saline Co. 3. The Samuel Garrison who married Nancy Fortenberry is indicated on the 1850 census as well as in your post as being born in Kentucky. There is documentation to prove that Samuel Garrison, the revolutionary soldier who married Mary Johnson in Albemarle County, VA did not leave Albemarle until 1815. All his children were born in Albemarle County, Virginia except one. Samuel and Mary Johnson's son Samuel can be found in Madison County, Kentucky in 1850. He has four children. Samuel who married Nancy Fortenberry isn't Samuel and Mary Johnson Garrison's son. >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [GARRISON] Samuel b. 1802 d. 1884 KY>TN>IL >Date: Tue, 4 Jan 2005 14:49:13 EST > >Haven't posted for a long time.
