    1. [GARRISON] Re: Jeremiah Garrison (-1750/1) of Salem Co., NJ
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Garrison, Van Meter, DuBois Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mEY.2ACEB/1943.1.1 Message Board Post: My David Garrison of Salem, son of Joel and Catherine (DuBois) Garrison, was born in 1769. He married Rebecca Van Meter, daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Berryman) Van Meter, circa 1799. He died 6 May 1833, aged 65y, 9 months and is buried at Clifton Presbyterian Church cemetery (now Clifton-Union Cemetery) at Clifton, Greene Co., Ohio, as "D. Wm. Garrison." His wife Rebecca died 30 Jan 1842, aged 72y, 6m, 13d, and is also buried there. I have another David Garrison who married Rebecca Coperthwait of Burlington County on 17 March 1770 at Salem. As yet I don't know how they fit into the Garrison family lines of Salem and Gloucester counties. RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project Harrison-Heitman <http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=harrison-heitman&id=I0423> says this David Garrison was b. 1718 and d. 1775. The site also states that Rebecca Coperthwait, dau. Hugh and Hannah (Atkinson) Coperthwait, had a first husband, A. Stelle (b. 1727, d. 1768). I have not yet gathered any other evidence outside the marriage license to prove or disprove this claim.
