    1. RE: [GARRISON] Answer to Abner Garrison Line Research

    3. Marti; I figure if the Garrisons were in Barren County and then in Hart Co. which used part of Barren at its beginning, then there was probably some kinship. If William lied about his age, saying he was younger than he really was in order to enlist with the volunteers from Illinois for the civil war, then he could have been George's son. I don't know if that would have made any difference to the army. If we ever find that he was fathered by another man then the relationship to all the Garrisons is no more than a half brother to Anne's children with George Garrison. That makes him a Garrison in name only. I guess that DNA testing would prove such a possibility. I still would like to know which family George came from. Some day it would be neat to visit the Kentucky Garrisons and see how much they look like our Illinois Garrisons. In answer to your next email, no, I don't have pictures of George Garrison. I do have pictures of William in his Civil War uniform and again in the early 1870s. I have to keep in mind that the information I have says that George died in 1828 or 1829. William was born 02 October 1830 according to his enlistment papers. If that was a baptism date he could have been born earlier. So far I have no record of where George died nor where he is buried. There may have been several Georges, also. So I have to keep with the one who married Anne Laird (several spellings of her name). Ain't this fun. Daphne * * * Hi, Daphne! I keep thinking your George is somehow connected to mine...but since you have it established, I guess not. <clip> Marti.
