There are more Edmunds than you'd think! I have an Edmund Garrison b. ca 1785-90 in NC....and probably from Pol (Paul) Gerritsen who arrived 1662 in New Amstel, Delaware (New Castle) son of Lysbeth Hendricksen..and presumably Gerrit Jansen ..since Paul was son of Gerrit...and it is believed that Jan Gerristen was his older brother already IN New Amstel. I've run into several Edmunds in my search but so far have not connected them. I also find Edmund as common enough as a first name. We have several Edmunds in my Edmund Sr's., line...but that is later of course. I'm always interested in where everyone's Edmunds are from however, just in case mine is NOT from the Paul who arrived in 1662. There is one in Virginia, same age and all, a]same time period....but doesn't work for mine. Sam Garrison told me that the name Edmund came in with the Cantwells, but I have not connected them to my guy at all. The Edmund in Lawrence Co., IN., was that the 1840 census? And then he is gone right? What was his age and there were small children, right? Marti
