I was interested in Peter because my ancestor James N. Garrison was living in Ozan in 1850 and I thought that he might be related. It is interesting that Peter's family moved so much (AR TX MO). He was in Texas during the Republic of Texas days. However, I have uncovered some circumstantial evidence that suggests that James N. may not be related to Peter. In the 1850 census, it appears that James N. Garrison is living with or near a James Anderson, Jr. Coincidentally, there is also a James W. Garrison living in Arkansas who has a neighbor named James Anderson. James W. Garrison was married to James Anderson's sister, Catherine. Based on this, I think that my James N. Garrison and the James Anderson, Jr. that he is living with (working for?) may be first cousins. This all suggests that James W. Garrison and Catherine Anderson Garrison are James N. Garrison's parents. Another indication I have is found in James N. Garrison's family Bible. The first entries were written around 1870. It documents the marriage of James N. Garrison and Rozina M. Hensley (August 24, 1854). Rozina's parents were Hickman and Louisa Hensley. James and Rozina Garrison moved to Jack Co. Texas with her parents Hickman and Louisa Wright Hensley. All are buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro, Texas. The first two sons listed in the family Bible are (1) James W. Garrison and (2) Hickman Garrison PERHAPS named after their paternal and maternal grandfathers, respectively. Given the nature of this evidence, I am still interested in any information you may find on Peter and Zelphia. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
