If you look at the 1930 census, there is a Ralph Garretson living in Hayden, Gila County, Arizona. He is living with his father-in-law, Andronico Lorona, and his family as well as his wife Della and son James G. He is a salesman working for the White Sewing Machine company. For several circumstantial reasons, I believe that this Ralph Garretson is my wife's great grandfather but by a different wife. A letter from a great uncle claims that our Ralph Garretson worked for the White Sewing Machine company. Family traditional also traces him back to Ohio or West Virginia, which also fits with 1930 census. Our Ralph Garretson married Mary Angrave of Chicago and then moved out to California in the early 1920's. They had three children, the last being born in 1927. Although the details are unclear, Ralph seems to have left them and so my wife's great grandmother and her kid! s returned to Chicago.
