Kelli, If you can, I would like to see if there is a Caroline Fisher, 1930 census for Dover,New Jersey. Good morning Kelli, You are wonderful to offer lookups for those of us who just can't afford Ancestory. When I was younger (and Ancestory was cheaper) I did have a subscription but we have retired and just can't afford the price.I do lookups here in Boone Co,Indiana for Random Acts Of Genealogy Kindness.I also take cemetery photos. So if you have time and are willing I am minus some dates for my Dad's eight sisters.I will only ask you two that I have had much trouble with. Margaret Pearl Garrison married Samuel Dechroff Cary after 1920.I can't find that marriage in our home county of Blackford or his home county of Allen. They had two children Patricia in 1925 and Sam II in 1927 and divorced in 1939. Goldie Grace Garrison married Nathan Edwards around 1916 in Indiana.Again didn't find it in Blackford Co or Wayne Co where he lived. They didn't have children and she married his brother Alonzo after his death. I know that Ancestory has Indiana Marriage that include these years. Please don't spend a lot of time with this but I would appreciate it if you ran the names and see if they are on that list.I know Aunt Pearl was married because I have the divorce.I haven't found anything to prove Aunt Grace ever married Nat Edwards but the family says she did. Thanks so much for caring about us old poor folks. You will be rewarded some day. Jeany Garrison Roark in Indiana

I am grateful that you keep the list! Thank You! I keep hoping that someday one of my Garrisons will spring up on an email! Hope Springs Eternal thanx Bonnie
Folks, Instead of my usual signature block, I'm using my general "Listmom" block so you can see the lists I admin and that all of these lists have migrated from the old Smartlist software to the new Mailman. Because SOCAL (SOuthern CALifornia) participated in the beta testing I was able to migrate all my lists a day or two earlier than the rest (thousands) of lists. Overall I am very pleased. As Listmom the utilities pages are much easier to work with than SmartList. A few update points and reminders: ~The lists only allow you to subscribe to one mode per email address. With Smartlist you could use the same addy on both the "list" and "digest" versions. Not so with mailman. All those pre-migration with an address on both migrated to the "list" version. You must decided which mode you want or use a different address for the other. ~Those on digest defaulted to "plain text" (in-line) messages. If you wish to receive your digests as MIME attachments, email me privately <ybowers@comcast.net> and I'll change it for you. ~There are no more "L" and "D" designations (except for subbing/unsubbing to digest version). The posting address is now JUST the listname i.e. SOCAL@rootsweb.com. You may have to update your mail filters and address books. ~AOL-ers are still only getting sporadic (if any) messages. AOL blocked the Lists9 server (the new expansion server where Mailman lists are housed). Although they are working on the problem, it has not been resolved yet. ~Relating to the above point (and to anyone who suspects they are not receiving list mail), it's always a good idea to check the archives http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ before emailing me or the list with a "test" or "is the list working?" message which is singularly unhelpful and clogs up the archives. When in doubt, email me at <ybowers@comcast.net> ~Soon (after migration of all the lists) there will be a tool (web page) each subscriber can go to to change their own subscriptions (unsub, switch to digest, switch to MIME, etc) which will render me virtually obsolete :-) Just kidding. It will be a help to you. There will be an announcement when that is available. ~The gateways to the Rootsweb Messages Boards are not turned on yet so those lists (my surname lists) may see a delay in board messages hitting the lists. I have to manually allow them. ~You may have noticed (but probably not :-) ) the rotating footers are gone. I am updating the one footer (non-digest and digest messages), the digest administrivia (the message you see after the headers and before the TOC), etc. and the Welcome Messages but that will be accomplished over several days. Overall, I am quite pleased. If you have any difficulties which may or may not be attributed to Mailman, please let me know and I'll do my best to get it fixed. I have found so much information on GARRISON'S that I cannot believe that I can't find THOMAS and COMFORT. I have not been doing this for 30 years but long enough to drive me nuts. I have been going with the notion that maybe THOMAS and COMFORT were of Indian decent. That would account for not finding them anywhere on the face of this great earth of ours. I have been looking on the Cherokee website and I did find some GARRISONS but haven't looked into yet. I did find something about how they used to name there children back in the days. The 1st son was named after the father's father, the 2nd son was named after the mother's father and the 3rd son was named after the father, was Thomas the 3rd son of Thomas and Comfort. I'm still not for sure when all of their children were born. So if William was the first son, Thomas's father would be a William and of course there are some William Garrisons in Virginia. And Mister ! Stansberry had a memory problem on some of his information. I have a zillion questions for that man, lololol well I will keep my search up there has to be information somewhere about those 2.

The only sources that mention Maryland, is TG Stansberry's manuscripts. (There are at least three different versions of his Family History) The actual quote is "in or near Baltimore Maryland." This coiud include a number of areas on the Chesapeak Bay including Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and .Virginia. If Thomas was the oldest son, his birth would indicate his father might have been born between 1710-1720. If he had older siblings, that could push the date back into the 1690's. I agree with you, that Isaac is probably not his father.
Following up on the conversion of the mailing list software from Smartlist to Mailman, wee have a new feature which will simplify things for listers. You may have noticed you only see GARRISON@rootsweb.com on your messages and digests (no more "-L" or "D"). From now on, the posting address is simply GARRISON@rootsweb.com and the default subscription address is GARRISON-request@rootsweb.com. The default mode is "list" version. If you sub or unsub from the "digest" version, you will use the old GARRISON-D-request@rootsweb.com. You may have to change your mail filters and address book to reflect the name change. Digesters, please note: if you are having difficulty with receiving digests or the appearance of them let me know. The default is "plain text" but if you prefer MIME attachments, let me know.
