    2. Hi John, I do not recognize any of the names you listed...unfortunately! My Richard C Garrison Sr was living in Arkansas with his in-laws (Henry Dunton). I am at work and don't have all the dates, names, etc. but I am fairly sure I am not related to the line you mentioned. Thanks for the reply...and happy hunting. Richard Garrison

    1. [GARRISON] Jan Garreson van der Hof
    2. Are any of you descended from Jan Gerritsen who became Garreson and added "van der Hof" to his name, following the naturalization ceremonies in the state of Delaware as shown in "List from Records of the Court of New Castle," vol.II, 1681-1699? It lists the name as Jan Garretsen verHof. Some people believe he was the son of Garret Jansen and Lysbeth Hendriksen..and brother of Paul and Hendrik Gerritsen who arrived with their mother in New Castle, Delaware in 1622. If you are descended from Jan I'd love to "talk" to you! Marti

    2. Joanne Merriner
    3. I have some information about him. I know he lived in Milwaukee, WI. His name is James Garrison. He did have a son named William who died of a brain aneurism at the age of 10? I did meet with one of his other daughters around 4-5 years ago. Her name is Debbie. I took her to lunch trying to get some information from her. I got a hold of her through calling a James Garrison up from the phone book, a man answered and said yes this is the James Garrison you're looking for but he wasn't able to talk because of the cancer in his mouth. The man gave me his daughter Debbie's phone #. She was very vague. She did say I have a sister named Margaret, Judy and a brother named James who I met at work at one point. He came in for the annulments process through the church. (I work for the catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee). I introduced my self to him and told him the little that I knew, that I was his half sister. He didn't appear shocked over it and I never heard from him after. I did meet my father when I was around 15 years old. He and my mother didn't see eye to eye and frankly I understood where she was coming from. He had a drinking problem. When I was around 32 I received a call from my father's brother, Ted I believe? My father wanted to meet me, at a bar. I didn't go. His brother told me he was gravely ill with cancer. And that the cancer was in his mouth and he couldn't talk very well. I do have brothers and sisters from my mother's first marriage to a Donald C. Matovich I grew up with his last name. He was deceased in 1957. Anyways that's how my father's brother contacted me at that time. My older brother ran into to my father and his brother in a bar. This is a long shot I know but if you would like to exchange some photos I would be glad to send you some Garrisons. If you don't find a family you are welcome to become one of ours.Mom always said there was room for one more and we have many.I have a lot of Garrison research but you don't have much to go on.Is your mother alive? Is James Garrison all that is on your birth certificate? I have a site for Garrisons most wanted if you would like to submit your quest.I you would like to correspond I will be glad to exchange emails.I'll help in anyway possible. My rumor involves a Southern N.J. Garrison marrying a Swedish Princess around 1700 - my line. In any event, there seems to be Garrisons of every nationality but a Y-DNA line has been established on a French Garrison named Jacob, an attorney, born in France in the early 1600's, and a Dutch Garrison, Gerrit Janzen Van Oldenburg, born near Oldenburg, Germany about 1610. If you will send me the info on the earliest Garrisons in your line, we will see if there is any match, or a possible origin for you.
