Extensive genealogy work has been done on this family by Alna BREEZE Phillips of California (for 50 years) and James Chesley GARRISON (several different generations carried this same distinguished name) of Arizona. I do not have my book on this family handy, so could you tell us where in this line you fit? I forwarded your inquiry to one of the family members, who is hoping to read further about your possible connection to this family. Are you a family member? Thanks for writing... GA)...they had to separate those many other Calebs from ours by careful comparison of dates, locations, etc. One of the other Caleb Garrisons had a son, James Chesley. That Caleb moved into Tennessee and then to Drew Co.,Arkansas. Maybe looking into Caleb Garrison records relating to those areas might hit paydirt for you. Sorry, but that's all the help I can be. Good luck with your research....according to Quillian and John Ross...there were Caleb Garrisons aplenty, so sifting through might not be so simple. The book is not published yet because the publisher wants most of the books to be pre-sold prior to printing. I along with 4 other ladies worked on this book for the Isaac Garrison Family Association. At this time I only have the information that I prepared on my one branch of this family, Joseph Garrison and his wife Elizabeth King Garrison and their descendants. I do have about 10,000 descendants and spouses and spouses parents for my Joseph line. The other 4 ladies did the same for their lines and we had the files merged. At this time I only have my Joseph Garrison line information. After I sent this notice out on the Garrison list & message board, I realized that I am getting several requests of people wanting to see if their Garrison ancestors are in the book. I just do not have that information about everyone yet. Isaac Garrison was born in 1732 and died in 1836. He was a Revoluti! onary War Soldier and is buried in the Richwood Cemetery, 2 miles NW of Ozark, Christian Co., Missouri. These two books list names and information about approximately 28,000 descendants of Isaac and their spouses and some names of the spouses parents. Sorry that I am not able to be of more help. The thing that kind of hung me up was 1910 Smith K. married to Anna, in 1920 Bessie. I have Clayton Jackson married to Margaret Elizabeth Miller of TN. and that he died in Aug 1986. But the similarities of Smith K and Keff Smith is so interesting that I am going to pass all of this on to her. I've worked on my own family for 30 years and have Garrison ancestors (my line I am sure of) so my friend and I were trying to see if somewhere we might find a link. Also she has never found anything beyond Clayton Jackson, this is her husbands line. She was interested for her children also. Thanks K. Garrison & Bessie. on this census they had another son also named keff age 3 8/12. WW1 Draft application for Keff Smith Garrison b: 13 Aug 1882 b: GA. working as a Supt. for Federist Chemical Company. So we know the 1910 census matches with this occupation when filled out Sept 1918. Wife on the Registration card shows Mrs Elizabeth Garrison. 1930 census has a Jack Garrison born abt 1907 in TN. living with a Aunt & Uncle, listed as nephew. Mary Kittrell age 45 William Kittrell age 48 Jack Garrison age 23, he works for a Gas Co. Eugenia Cabler age 55 boarding The name of Kepp is foreign to me, but after checking earlier census I didn't locate any thing on this spelling. If K. Smith died, Elizabeth(Bessie) could have remarried and you will have to track that down. I didn't find either of them on the 1930 census in TN. I'm not sure how early TN. started keeping death records, but I would order one for Kepp Smith Garrison. From: RECORD AND AUTOBIOGRAPHY of the GARRISON FAMILY of NORTH CAROLINA and THEIR DESCENDANTS by Thomas Garrison Stansberry. The original document is in the possession of Verna Noble Woodman, Jerseyville, Illinois. Copied July, 1961. by I. Pedicord. "James Garrison, the fourth son of Thomas Garrison and Comfort, his wife, married a Miss Anderson of Virginia, sister of his brother Thomas' wife. He emigrated from Buncomb county, North Carolina to the Yellowbanks Kentucky about the time his brother Thomas did and was engaged in the horse trade to the South and about the third drove he took South he sold his entire drove to a man in South Carolina, on time. He soon found, however, that the man's wife, he had sold to, held all the property in her name and he lost his whole drove of horses, and did not return home for five years. He finally returned to Kentucky and paid for his horses and sent to Virginia for his wife, who had given him up for dead and had returned to her father in Virginia. She met him at his brother Thomas Garrison's who had emigrated to Illinois in his absence. While at the dinner table shortly after his wife returned from Virginia he spoke to his wife calling her a different name than her own Christi! an name. After dinner was over his brother Thomas took him aside and called to his mind the incident of the name and asked him to give an explanation of the whole matter. His brother James said he had been swindled out of his horses by a woman and he had made it back of a woman and that was all the explanation he gave. He then took his family and went to Arkansas and that is the last account I had of him. He had a brother living at Crockets Bluff, Arkansas many years. Perhaps he settled near him and lived in obscurity the remainder of his life, but he may have descendants in the state. It is unpleasant to me to write the facts in this case but as I am writing history, it must be true to facts as they came to the writer of this autobiography of the Garrison family of North Carolina. There appears to be some extreme circumstances connected with this case, but a thousand wrongs will not make one right. This explanation perhaps will set some of the descendants of Absolom G! arrison right on a point referred to me three years ago. It was not as Mr. Johnson was impressed. The simple fact in the case is: He married a rich widow in the South, took enough of her estate in his hands, left her, paid his debt, Took his wife and went to the wilds of Arkansas."
