    3. (Sorry for the crosspost... will be posting to the VA-Albemarle list also) Hi everyone, I'm looking for the parents of Richard F (Franklin?) Garrison, b. 1877, m. to Sarah Agnes Beddow.. His grave is shown here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~langolier/ivy_creek.html . I believe his wife was Sarah Agnes Beddow. I found him in the 1900 census. I found a few Richard Garrisons in the 1880 census but I don't believe they are him (for various reasons.... I plan to do a case-by-case look at the Richard Garrisons in the 1880 census in Virginia tonight to verify my hunch). I bet the answer is staring me in the face, and I haven't exhausted all avenues of research, but was hoping someone already researched his family. Thanks for any help! Author: bridge172 Surnames: Garrison/Turner Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.garrison/3538.1.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: James Turner is my ggg grandfather, his mother from what I can find was Jemimah Turner. He was married to Frances Garrison according to the census records. They had four children which where living with the Garrisons after 1860. J.F. Turner, W.H. Turner, A.J. Turner, and Emily Turner. My gg grandfather is William Harrison Turner, his death certificate was filled out by William G. Garrison, and that lists his mother as "Sarah Garrison". William G. Garrison married J.F. Turner's widow M. Turner. I've been trying to piece everything together but really have no living family my Turner line to help me out. I would love to share my Turner information if anyone is interested, and would like to get this puzzle together if anyone has more information. Always good to add another cousin to the tree. I'll email you but wanted to respond to the question about Indian ancestry. My Garrison family had no such stories but that doesn't mean there isn't any. Any of the female ancestors could be all or part Indian, given the fact that the Garrisons had a habit of moving onto former Indian land very early. In the other side of my family, not Garrison, I have three Cherokee way-back grandmothers. It seems to have been more common for men who moved onto the frontier to marry Indian women than the other way around. Because all of the rumors I've heard come from Allen's line I've wondered about the Pools but have no info. Another of Zebulon's children married a brother of Francis Pool. Isham Pool married Tryphenia Garrison June 3, 1824 in Hall Co., GA. They moved to Hartville, Wright Co., MO. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. One of the censuses showed her middle initial as "J" but that may not be right. William Garrison's sister Francis married James Turner and he is probably a brother of Mary Ann but because William & Mary Ann married before the 1850 census we don't have the Turners together in a census as proof. Their mother appears to be Jemima, born 1801-1805 in North or South Carolina. 1850 Stewart Co., TN Jemimah Turner 52 SC Sarah 28 TN James 25 TN Martha 21 TN Henry 16 TN William & Francis' parents along with his two uncles William Garrison & John Garrison were also in Stewart County Tennessee. Allen & Francis moved to Arkansas, John died in Stewart County unmarried, and William & his family stayed in Stewart County. I think she may have been married to my ggg grandfather James Turner. The census shows him married to a Francis and my gg grandfathers death cert, says his mother was one Sarah Garrison. I'm sure there is a link between the Turners and the Garrisons because the 1870 Census for Yell shows the children living with A.S. Garrison. Any ideas would be great. Andrew Jackson Garrison a son of Harvy is listed as the family next to his mother in the 1870 census. Andrew married Nancy ann Woodard born abt 1847. The 1870 census has them being married within that year. Nancy's family is also listed close by. Her Father is Tobias Woodard. My great grandfather a son of Nancy list his parents on his social security registration as Jeff Garrison and Nancy Woodward. Andrew Jackson Garrison son of Harvie has a brother by the name of Thomas Jefferson Garrison. I believe Andrew may have died early and Thomas married Nancy.
