    1. Re: [GARRISON] IGA
    2. ALNA, Please explain to me why you think that the Isaac Garrison Family Association should not use that name. We are descendants of Isaac Garrison the Revolutionary War soldier. Isaac was born in 1732 and died in 1836. The book that the Isaac Garrison Family Association is taking orders for, contains about 28,000 descendants and spouses and parents of the spouses of ISAAC GARRISON. So, I do not know what you see wrong with using the name when that is the person that we are descendants from. Please tell me what you see that is wrong with that!!!!!! 3. I must have missed something. Is Yvonne still our List Mom? Where are Rootsweb and Ancestry? Do I still belong? All of a sudden there seems to be a blank and then an argument about the book. An upgrade to the book was a great deal of work. I sent a money order a while ago to purchase one copy and even if we might be from some unknown Garrison line the book is the closest we can get to history of ancestors. Daphne N. Author: dartigers Surnames: Garrison Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.garrison/3564/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I read some earlier posts about a possible connection to some native American blood lines. Has anyone done any DNA work? I submitted a relative's DNA sample to the Garrison project thinking (and hoping) that I had finally found the family connection. Turned out that the DNA markers were off by one so he is not a direct descendent of the family. I am descended from James Madison Garrison (b 1840 SC/NC, d.11/07/1924). I saw where the name was mentioned in a post about Cherokees. He was married 3 times: Mary, Martha Ann Brown, and then a ML Smith. I'm still looking for his family and since I have little information available, I am hoping that the DNA will open some doors. If anyone has had DNA work done and is not part of the Garrison project, please let me know. I would like to compare the DNA samples to see if there is a connection.
