In 1850 you find them in Henry County, Iowa. Census shows children: William, Jonas, Esther, Charles, Simion, Erastus, Caleb, Roseline, Maria and perhaps one more. My eyes are not very good at this time. As for Jason's children, the best I have been able to find are: Ephraim born 1799, William 1802 (my line), married Cynthia Pollard, Jane, married George Ayers, Maria married John Salter, Clarissa, married Abner Ayers, Elizabeth married Calvin Steward. Still trying to find additional information on Jane and Maria. The John Garrison in the areas Jason lived, was married to Rebecca Mills. I believe Jason and John to be brothers, but have found nothing to confirm this. Mary Ellen

    2. Mary Ellen; Thanks for the info.......as always it brings another question! My great grandfather was Charles Warren Garrison, b. 1837 Ohio and d. 1894 in Washington State, I believe in Kittitas County. He is buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Ellensburg, WA. Question; when did Ephriam (Charles' father) marry Nancy Modie? This would tell me if she is Charles' mother. Do you know the names, etc. of all Ephriam's children? Do you know the names of all Jason's children? I have; Ephriam, Clarissa, Elizabeth C., Jane, John (?) and Jason (Y. ?) For what its worth, both Ephriam and Nancy are buried in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Chehalis, WA. (Lewis County) Thanks for all that you're willing to share. I'll help you if I can. Carlene

The other Jason Garrison was Jason Y. Garrison, son of Ephraim and his first wife, Esther Young. His mother died the same year he was born. When Ephraim married Nancy Modie they went to Henry County, Iowa and then in 1854 they went on Oregon Trail to Oregon, then settled in Lewis County, Washington. Jason Y. stayed in Richland County and died in Knox County, at home of a relative of his Aunt Elizabeth. I also descend from Jason and would be glad to furnish any info I have that you might not have. Mary Ellen

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mEY.2ACEB/1960 Message Board Post: I visited the Lipscomb Cemetery and read the tombstone for C. E. Garrison and T. H. Garrison. The tombstone reads "Brother" instead of "Mother" for T. H. So, this is Caleb Edwin's son Thomas that's buried next to him. Thought I would straighten this out since I was the one who posted the message earlier about T. H. being the third wife of Caleb Edwin. I plan to go back to the cemetery with chalk and try to get a good image of the tombstone which is very eroded. If I get an image, I'll post a message and send a photo to all wanting a copy.

    2. Barbara; I have a great great grandfather named Ephraim Garrison, b. 1799 in NY. His family lived in Ohio before coming West into Oregon and Washington. I have come across a Lydia Garrison, but have never tied the pieces together. Ephraim's father's name was Jason. He died in 1855. Not sure, but could be Richland Cty or Knox Cty, Ohio. A brother was also Jason. Ephraim's sister Elizabeth C. was possibly born in Huron and died in Madison, Ohio. I understand there were more brothers and sisters, but I have not found their names or how many. Ephraim married a Nancy Modie. Let me know if any of this helps or leads you somewhere. Carlene

She later married John Parker Calvin and Israel Coon I am trying to find her ancestry. There were 3 Garrison households in Portage county OH for the 1820 census and it looks like the only female of her age was in the household of Joseph Garrison. The other households were of Joshua and also Epharim or Ephraim Garrison. In censuses she states she was born in VA. Anybody recognise these/ this Garrison family? Barbara

    2. I have a James Harvey Garrison born in Iowa Dec 1852. He was, however, the son of Daniel Garrison and Sarah Forbes. Daniel was born in Indiana about 1814. There is, however, something about the name "Harvey" that appears among Garrisons. Harvey is really a family name. 3. Carlene: Thanks for your reply. My Eliza J.(Liza) Garrison married Gallant"Dock" Tucker in Smith Co.,TN on 13 Oct 1864. She was never married to anyone else after he died in 1910 according to documents found in his/her 121 legal page file for Civil War Pensions. I doubt she ever traveled out of the area. They only had one daughter who married at 14, bore 11 chldren and lived to be 84. We "lost" her after 1910 but found her in the LA,CA 1930 Census with 2nd husband and three older children who came by the way of IN. I think our families went more than we realize. When Eliza's death certificate showed up on line with Calvin for her father and Rebecca Malone for a mother and Rebecca appears in the 1900 Census as mother-in-law living next door to Eliza with her granddaughter, Mary Jane Tucker Medley that gives one a red flag on what is in their files. Have found several Calvin's but none with a daughter Eliza J(ane) born 8 Sept 1846.
