Dear Sailormate -- Do you know when your Mom and Dad were married, and where? If you get a copy of the marriage certificate (I'm guessing around 1940's, before or after the war?), it usually lists the parents names of the bride and groom. The US Census has been released for 1930, and if you can find the household with your Mom's parents, and verify she was in the household at around age 8, then you can just start going backwards in the census and marriage records for the counties they are located. If you already know how to do this, I apologize. I wasn't sure from your initial email if you were aware of these resources. Good luck in your search! J. Marcus

I have some given names however I don't know that all of the n ames are correct. My mom recently passed away and her maiden name was Illo Jean Garrison, from Minneapolis. Her mother's name was either Ina or Ida and her last known residence was also Minneaplois. Mom was born in july 1922. I also have other family from tha area but don't know if any are still living. If anyone can help me I would truly appreciate it. I don't know much at all about my Mom's family.

She married John J. Hudgins, born in 1845/46. They had 5 sons, John Curtis, Charles Burley, Frederick Mahlon, Elmer Lawson (my g-gf), Grover Cleveland Hudgins. Am told by a relative that there was also a daughter born into this family, Florence. She was a baby when she died. Apparently she was tied to a high chair and placed next to the fireplace for warmth and she fell into the fireplace and died. Any info on any of the above will be greatly appreciated. George H Garrison b Dec. 1862 in Hamilton Co., Illinois, d 1930. Mary Jane Roark b Jan. 1866 in Kentucky. They were married 1886 in Hamilton Co., Illinois. Both are buried in Garrison Cemetery, Crouch Twp., Hamilton Co., Illinois. I have the parents of George and the names of his 9 children. Joe D Garrison

Joe, I am sure you have seen my story on here before.My ggrandparents Robert Garrison and Suzannah Smith were married in Warren Co.Ohio in 1847.Shortly after that the headed for Illinois where my grandfather Reed Garrison was born(Peoria) in 1852.I have found a lot of the Garrisons of Ohio went to Illinois around that time.I have not found this family in the 1850 census anywhere.Perhaps they were traveling and didn't get counted.I have know idea how they came to be in Blackford Co,Indiana after that but Robert disappeard from the cabin they were living in on the Salamonie River when Grandad Reed was very small.Suzannah remarried a school teacher named Gideon Shannon in Jay Co,Indiana 1858.I have found the marriage of Suzannah Smith and Robert Garrison in Warren Co,Ohio 1947 but can not find any proof of who their parents were. My husband's grandfather Robert Daniel Roark(PaPa)was born in White Co,Tenn 1878 to Tabitha Howell and Peter Roark.I have traced the Howell family but cannot find the family of this Peter Roark.They are in the 1880 census of White Co.,Tenn.Tabitha is 22 and Peter 54 I beleive.He was listed as a Blacksmith at that time.There were two children at that time and they had a third shortly after.Peter deserted this family and Tabitha died when PaPa was 9.He was raised by his uncle John Howell in Tx.His sisters were sent to Illinois and raise by other Howell relatives. I am from a family of 12 and so is my father all Garrisons born and raised in Blackford Co.,Indiana. They all ended up in Southern Illinois. Most of them in Hamilton and Wayne counties

im searching for any info on my late grandma ione kennedy garrison who was born in illinois in aprox. 1903-1904. i believe she is listed on the abingdon, knox county illinois 1930 census as being married to a jesse kennedy along with children patty lou, rodney and lewis kennedy. im not sure but i believe garrison is her given name. some time later she moved to colorado and had my father emil dean mikan in 1939. on my late fathers birth cert. she is listed as ione garrison and it states that dad had two siblings at the time of his birth..i am having a very hard time finding any records for her.can find no proof of marriges, birth ect.if you can find any info on her or others, kennedys, it could prove to be very helpful. thanks for your time, deanna mikan melland ps. ive searched the ssdi and can find no one that matches her birth date. wonder if maybe she had a different surname and married a garrison later, thanks again Have a wonderful Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-)
