What a welcome! You Garrigans are a friendly lot--make me feel right at home. :) My response is a little delayed because I get the list in digest form. Here is a little more info that may help those of you kind enough to try to fit my Garrigans into your research....James Garrigan, my ggrandfather, allegedly arrived in this country around 1860 from Ireland with a price on his head. He was supposedly wanted by the Brits. No, I have not tried to locate him through the IRA (or whatever they were called back then), and I have not searched for ships. It occurs to me that, if this story has any truth, he would not have listed his birthplace as Ireland, but I don;t know. He did fight in the US Civil War, supposedly survived Andersonville Prison (tho I can't find him there). At any rate, I would accept as kin any James Garrigan who lived at the right time, married Helen (or Ellen) Monaghan and had three sons named Joseph (b. 1877), Raymond, and Frank. :) My mother's brother, Joseph Jr., settled in CA when he was 16 yrs. old in 1921. He had a large family, I believed, and built up a trucking business. (I believe one of his sons was named Frank, but I'm not sure--we never kept up with his family.) My mom's other brother was Robert Emmett. He died in 1970 without issue. Thanks again for the warm welcome...I shall certainly keep the list informed if I make any interesting discoveries. Walda
