I apologize if you all get this message twice. I believe I only sent it to Gregg. Sorry about that! Cousin Shelly ----- Original Message ----- From: Rich and Shelly Stropes To: Greggory E. I am from East Central Illinois where we pronounce it "Juh-rard" (thank you Gregg). Although I have heard my grandma say "Garrid", or something close to that. It is so hard to get out of the habits you have formed for 30+ years! But I'm trying! Cousin Shelly ----- Original Message ----- From: Greggory E. For years, before I ever actually exchanged actual mouth to ear conversation with anyone about the Garrard family, I assumed that our Garrard was pronounced "Juh - rard" as in beginning with the "J" sound, second syllable rhyming with "yard". Sorry but I'm no English major or diction expert, so use your imagination. Anyway, Cousin Kay Withers graciously straightened me out, and I thank her for it, but since she did I've had arguments over the years as to how it's pronounced. I've conditioned myself to say it properly though.
