Need a DAR Lookup? Do you think you might have an ancestor who served in the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783)? Would you like to know whether your ancestor is listed with the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) in the "Patriot Index"? A helpful group of organized DAR VIS Volunteers monitor the RootsWeb DAR Message Board every day and welcome lookup requests. Include your Revolutionary War-era ancestor's first and last name, spouse's name (if known), dates of birth, death, and state of residence when posting your lookup request. You need not be interested in joining the NSDAR to request a lookup. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=topics.organizations.dar Or go to: http://boards.rootsweb.com/ and in the FIND A MESSAGE BOARD window type in DAR. Select No. 2 of the choices -- the organization and society.

Cousins: I got the below from one of my lists and wanted to pass it on. If anybody needs Tennessee death certificates and doesn't want to bother with the long wait to get them from the State Archives, there is a site I've been using that gets them to you fast and for less money. The URL is: www.tndeathcertificates.com Give it a try and I promise you won't be disappointed. I've been using them since last September after a bad experience with getting them from Nashville and its about the best thing going if you need death records. Best, Cuz Sandi

Mailing List Server Update RootsWeb is in the process of rolling out an extra server to service the mailing lists. This necessitates taking one of the busier list servers offline from time to time as this upgrade is in process. Some mail probably will be delayed at times. Sandi, I read about this on CNN Quick news I get. It is so awful. Our 21 year old Marine grandson flew out from N. C. a week ago today to Kuwait, and then they flew them to somewhere in Iraq. He called his mother, [our daughter] this morning and we was so happy to hear he was alright, because I heard about 2 days ago that 3 Marines had been killed somewhere around Bagdad. Hi All: I got the below from a Maupin cousin. Our cousin, Matt Maupin has been executed by those animals! Please pray for Matt Maupin's soul and his family. Thank you, Sandi Report: Kidnapped Cincinnati Soldier Killed Maupin Captured In Iraq In April BATAVIA, Ohio -- There are unconfirmed reports that a soldier from the Cincinnati area, who was kidnapped in April in Iraq, has been killed, Cincinnati television station WLWT reported. Pfc. Matt Maupin, 20, of Batavia, Ohio, a member of the 724th Transportation Company, was captured April 9. His convoy was attacked by gunmen using rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons. According to military representatives close to the Maupin family who spoke to WLWT, sources are reporting that the Al-Jazeera TV network has a videotape of Maupin being shot. The military has not changed Maupin's status, and the report of his death has not been confirmed.
