    3. HI RUSSELL - THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE. I GUESS YOU CAN ALMOST HEAR THE FRUSTRATION IN MY INQUIRY. I KNOW MY COLBY'S WERE IN RICHMOND COUNTY BUT BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TOWN, WELL.. THEY WRE ALL ON THE RICHMOND COUNTY CENSUS IN 1850 ALL, EXCEPT MY GREAT GRANDFATHER WILLIAM, WHO WAS BORN IN 1852 IN RICHMOND COUNTY. AGAIN - I HAVE NO WAY TO TELL YOUWHAT TOWN IN RICHMOND COUNTY GEORGIA. AS I SAID, I KNOW MY GREAT GRANDFATHER WILLIAM AND HIS SISTERS MARYANN AND CHARLOTTE AND BROTHER THOMAS ALL ENDED UP IN NYC. I CAN TRACE THEM THERE FOR A FACT, BUT ALL AT DIFFERENT TIMES. AND AS FOR NYC AND GETTING INFORAMTION - BELIEVE ME, I KNOW WHAT IT TAKES AND THEY ARE TERRIBLE. I EVEN HAVE WILLIAM'S DEATH CERTIFICATE # AND THEY CAN NOT FIND IT... SO WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT NY? I FIGURE IF I KEEP MY NAME AND INFO REQUESTS OUT THERE SOMEONE, SOMEDAY "JUST" MIGHT RECOGNIZE THOSE FACTS OR ME... THANKS AGAIN KATIE COLBY -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Russell K. Brown" <russell@csranet.com> > NYC death certificates started in 1866.
