    1. Re: [GARICHMO] City Maps from 1950s
    2. I'll check the directories and see what I find. Are you talking about wanting photocopies of that or a map showing the street. I think the library has copies of old fire maps of the city but not sure about general street maps. I was born in 1943 so the visits would be from that year until the late '50s. Their street was Cooper Street but I do not remember the number. That section's architecture was very interesting in that each house was a mirror image of the one across the street, exactly alike except in reverse. I had forgotten about the name "Frog Hollow" but do recall my dad telling me about it. I live in Smyrna, GA which is not awfully far but time to make the trip is hard to come by. I do plan a trip at some point because I have some great-grandparents buried in Augusta and Graniteville, SC. I plan to take pictures of the headstones and try to dig up a little more info about them. If you do have time to check for me at the library I will appreciate it tremendously. If you are able to make copies I will gladly reimburse you for your expenses. I could check the old city directories at the library and see exactly where they lived and that might help in finding a map with their street still showing. I didn't know any streets were eliminated when the complex expanded. I was born at the old University Hospital in that general area and went to school as a child at Woodlawn elementary school which was right across the street from the Medical College of GA. Of course it was torn down years and years ago. It was sad for me because my Dad also attended that school. Jackson, Jr., grew up in Augusta and so I have wonderful memories of visiting my grandparents as a child. Their home is now a part of the Augusta Medical Complex so their street no longer exists. I have been searching without success for an Augusta city map from the mid 1900s just to have a visual reminder of the exact location of their home. Would anyone have such an animal and be willing to send a photocopy or email a scanned copy?
