    3. Sad to say, I deleted the request message, so I hope I got this right. Obituary for Sarah Laird, Augusta Chronicle, June 27, 1995, p. 10A (paraphrased): Mrs. Sarah Anderson Laird, a native of Emmanuel County and formerly a resident of Richmond County, age 70, died in Reidsville, GA, Sunday, June 25, 1995. Funeral was June 27 at Rimes-Stewart Mortuary, Rev. Tim Lamb officiating. Burial was in Reidsville City Cemetery. Mrs. Laird was a member of the Abundant Faith Fellowship church. She was survived by her husband, Kline "Red" Laird; a daughter, Pat Kreiner, Brooksville, FL; five brothers, Lewis Lamb, Wadley; Leon Lamb, Columbia, SC; Emmitt Lamb, Swainsboro; Billy Lamb, La Grange; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. I can't find an obit for Mr. Laird after 1995. From the Augusta city directories: 1952 (first listing) Kline E. Laird, spouse Gladys S., carpenter, Dupont 1953-1956, Kline but no spouse 1957-1959, not listed 1960 and forward, Kline E. and Sarah A. (He was employed various places and home different locations, e.g. 1966, foreman at Augusta American Builders, home at 20 Taylor St.) spot checked, 1970, 75, 80, 85, 90, home at 942 Beman St., Kline was retired by 1985 but in 1990 he was in construction at Castleberry Foods. Some years he was listed as K.E. In 1990, Sarah's middle initial was M. That was the last entry. They were in the 1990-1991 Augusta phone directory but not thereafter. Hope this helps somebody. 3. In the early 1950's the Federal Government took over a large part of Barnwell (Aiken?) county area for the Savannah River Project for the manufacture of Atomie Energy. The whole Town of Ellenton was taken over and people and house were moved out. Some graves and Cemeteries were moved, but many remained. They have been catalogued and published. Some other people on the list who live and the area and may work there can do a much better explanation of what happened. I was living with my pareants in Augusta in the Bayvale Community in 1949-1951 when it all first started. I remember riding around the area with my paretns after the anouncement was made, but before it was all taken over. My father had lived in the area as a child for a few years c. 1927 on the McHaney (spelling?) place. Clearfield Company (which is connected to the Genealogical Publishing Company) has just reprinted "Records of Richmond County, Georgia, formerly Saint Paul's Parish" by Grace Gillam Davidson. It is vol. II of the series "Historical Collections of the Georgia Chapter DAR". It includes wills, deeds, marriages and more. I saw it a long time ago at a library and found a lot of useful data on my late 1700s-mid 1800s Augusta lines. I am not affiliated with the publisher, but thought some here might want to check it out. They are on-line. Juliann I think the "Historical Collections of the Georgia Chapter DAR" are at the Augusta Genealogical Society. They should have vol. II

    3. I didn't make the original post. I merely followed the poster's recommendation and found the site to order the book. Once on the Clearfield Company site I did a web site search for "Richmond County". I wish the records were online, but here's the link: http://www.genealogical.com/item_detail.asp?afid=&ID=9312 and here's what the website says the book contains: Historical Collections of the Georgia Chapters Daughters of the American Revolution. Vol. 2: Records of Richmond County, Georgia (formerly Saint Paul's Parish) "Here is a faithful abstract of many of the earliest extant official records of Richmond County, Georgia. Contents include Will Abstracts, 1777-1840; Index to Wills, 1840-1853; Administrators and Guardians Bonds, 1777-1830; Marriage Bonds, 1785-1830; Marriages, 1813-1839; Deed Abstracts, 1750-1790; and Minutes of the Inferior Court, 1790-1821. Preceding the 10,000-every-name index at the back of the volume is a genealogy of the descendants of Robert Walton, Georgia signer of the Declaration of Independence" -----Original Message----- From: AltaMDurden@aol.com [mailto:AltaMDurden@aol.com] Sent: Sunday, November 13, 2005 7:35 AM To: GARICHMO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GARICHMO] book of Richmond Co. records reprinted In a message dated 11/12/2005 11:33:11 P.M.
