Have you tried getting someone to check any newspaper microfilm in Lake Wales FL for an obituary or the complete news story? Sounds like you may have....to have the info you do. What about the marriage certificate for Frank and Ora? It may be that Polk county required applications that gave previous marriages, parents names, etc.... worth a try. Also, have you thought about contacting the Coroner's office in Polk County. They might have some records that would give more info. No luck in a 1900 or 1910 census search for Frank and parents?

    3. Oldnail the marriage certificate is filed in Jacksonville FL which I contacted several months ago and have not received a responce from them. I have asked RAOGK for help yesterday and have not had a reply from the person so far. I chose a person that would go the court house to do lookups so I am hopeing it will give me more clues. Your suggestion on the Coroner's office is something I had not thougth about but will give a try this week. I thank you for all your suggestions and will try them. As always thank you for your help, Margie ----- Original Message ----- From: <Oldnail@aol.com> To: <GARICHMO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 19, 2006 12:05 PM Subject: Re: [GARICHMO] Help with missing Winslett family member > > In a message dated 2/19/2006 9:42:02 AM Eastern Standard Time, > heyred@knology.net writes: > > Frank died on January 21, 1931 in Lake Wales, FL and is buried there. > > > Have you tried getting someone to check any newspaper microfilm in Lake > Wales FL for an obituary or the complete news story? 1. Help with missing Winslett family member

    3. Please I need help in connecting Frank Edward Winslett born on December 25, 1895 to his family. The following is all I can give you at this time other than to say there another Frank Edward Winslett that was born in April 1895 and I have traced him and he is not my line. Frank Edward Winslett was living at 1350 Miles Road Augusta, GA on June 5, 1917 according to his WW I Draft registration card when he met Nancy Geneva Hadden and they married on September 6, 1917 in Augusta, Richmond County, GA. Also according to his draft card he was born on December 25, 1895 in Greene County, GA. Nancy Geneva Hadden Winslett gave birth to their daughter, Mary Edna on June 3, 1921 and Geneva died on June 6, 1921 and Frank left the hospital = and no one ever heard from him again. According to Geneva's funeral records a telegram was sent to G. H. Winslett in Social Circle, GA. = notifying them of her death. Edna has never seen a picture or head from her father, my grandmother raise Edna.Nancy Geneva Hadden was my = mother's older sister. Edna is still living and I would like to connect her to her father before she dies. The next time I can find Frank Edward Winslett is in Lake Wales, Polk County, FL where he has married Ora Lee Landress sometime between 1921 = and 1931. Frank died on January 21, 1931 in Lake Wales, FL and is buried there. I have contacted the funeral home that handled the funeral and = they will not give me any information. I have found out Frank was shot by his wife's brother which was prominent family in that town at the time. I have a copy of Frank's death certificate which is little to no = help at all where it ask for father's name there is a check mark and same for mother's name, place of birth says Athens, GA. I have = contacted Jacksonville, Fl for a copy of the marriage certificate, that is where Polk County vitals are filed, but so far I have not heard from = them. Also, Athens, GA did not require birth certificates until 1919 so I am out of luck there. Any help or suggestions you can give me on connecting Frank Edward Winslett to his family would be very much appreciated. Oh, by the way = there are TWO Frank Edward Winslett, the other Frank was born on April 25, 1895. Thank you in advance, Margie Puckett King

    3. Hello all! I am trying to help a friend locate their Stone family in the 1910 Census but am not having much luck. Does anyone know if Ancestry has all of the 1910 Richmond County Census on-line? She is looking for Nancy Stone who would be about 71 (born in South Carolina, 1839). Her son Luther & his wife Georgia are living with her parents. But there are two other sons of Nancy's she could be listed with, Joel Marion who married Fannie ASHLEY, & William Walker who married Ella -?-. In 1900 Nancy Stone was living in the 71 District of the 5th Ward, I have looked through all the districts in the 1910 Census under the 5th Ward to no avail. Luther & Georgia LANGLEY Stone are living with her Dad John H. Langley & Mama Mary Langley, the 72nd District of the 5th Ward. Thank You For Any Help, Lena --------------------------------- Yahoo!
