My dad, Rev. Lloyd W. Jackson, Jr., grew up in Augusta and so I have wonderful memories of visiting my grandparents as a child. Their home is now a part of the Augusta Medical Complex so their street no longer exists. I have been searching without success for an Augusta city map from the mid 1900s just to have a visual reminder of the exact location of their home. Would anyone have such an animal and be willing to send a photocopy or email a scanned copy? TIA, Jim Jackson
Is there anyone on the list willing to do lookups in the Augusta directories. I am trying to locate Hiram Smith, physician, from 1870 to 1881. If anyone has these directories, I would really appreciate a lookup. Thank you.
Good for you! I have a lot of those nameless pictures also. Good Luck! Helen Hirtriter
I would like to thank all of the people that helped me in my search for the saying. I hope to help others in the near future! I hope to see more people take an interest in their family history and if my article will inspire just one person to pass some old nameless pictures that they find in the attic along to other family members instead of throwing them in the trash or to help someone fill in the blanks with a little information on their line of the family, then I will feel like I have accomplished something!! I have several pages in an album that I call my 'Who the heck are they' pages. I hope that one day I will be able to identify these people in the pictures. I had one picture that I carried around for about 3 years before I found out that it was of a step-gggrandfather! It was Lucius F. Kendrick from Columbia County, GA. Thank you, Jan Bohler jbohler@bellsouth.net
Hi Jan - I seemed to have missed a message somehow..... what was the saying? Charlotte
Sorry for the cross posting! I am writing an article for the newspaper at school and I wanted to do one about genealogy. I thought that if I could use it, I have seen a comment about not knowing where you are going if you do not know where you come from. Someone on one of my list has it at the bottom of there emails or did at one time. I do not remember who it was or what list it was on. I want to really catch the reader's attention and thought that this might do it. If anyone has any other ideas, they would also be welcome. Thanks so much, Jan Bohler jbohler@bellsouth.net
Spread the word! There was an article about NYS setting up a museum about the people who have received the purple heart throughout the years. The link below tells about it and gives you ways to join in. What better way to further honor our loved ones. Pass this on to all your boards so that all might sieze this opportunity.
