Would the person who inquired about the parents of Bermah Jane Thomas please contact me? I tried to answer but my email was rejected because of "no account by that name." I must have copied the address incorrectly. Russell __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! No, you answered the right email..... I was just curious. I was helping the lady who was looking for Hiram Smith and went through the directories from 1872 to 1904. I had made a note that he was not listed in the 1888 directory nor his family. I could just as easily have made a mistake. I will double check it next time I am at the library. Thanks for your response. In a message dated 6/14/2006 6:11:21 PM Eastern Daylight Time, lznash@bellsouth.net writes: This was transcribed by the previous coordinator. Hey Jim, You may check out this site. They have a good many old Sanborn fire insurance maps for Richmond County and Augusta. Some of them are a little hard to see, even after you enlarge them, but it may be of some help in what you are looking for. I'll check the directories and see what I find. Are you talking about wanting photocopies of that or a map showing the street. I think the library has copies of old fire maps of the city but not sure about general street maps. Probably the best place to start would be the Augusta Main Library at Augusta-Richmond County Public Library, 902 Greene St.~ 706-821-2600.
