We miss the voice of one we love. A precious form has passed away to join the angel throng above in that realms of endless day. Sister Kersey was born Oct. 18, 1845, and reared in Upson County about five miles west of Thomaston. She united with Fellowship Baptist Church in August 1869 and was babpized by Brother Richardson. She was faithful to her church and country. She was married to A.W. Kersey on Sept. 20, 1869. She was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother, kind and gentle to all. All who knew her loved her. A precious one from us has gone. a voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our home which can never be filled. God in his wisom recalled The boon(?) his love had given and though the body slumber here the soul is safe in heaven. The remains were laid to rest at Hendricks Church, March 25. The services were conducted by Rev. L.D Baker, assisted by Rev. F.C. Howard. Fletcher dorothy010@ameritech.net June 12, 2005, 2:24 pm Virginia Crilley In Loving Memory On Sunday, February the 10th our Heavenly Father in His infinite wisdom plucked from His garden one of His sweetest, loveliest flowers, Mrs. Gracie Leona Glanton, beloved wife of Paul Glanton and transplanted her on the Golden Shore, there to shed her fragrance and beauty throughout the endless ages of eternity. All the watchful care of skillful physicians and the untiring service of loved ones could not stay the grim messenger of death. She fought a valiant fight against the ravages of that dreadful diesease, tuberculosis, but the great destroyer place his signet on her brow. The loving Father looked down with tender compassion on her suffering and took her to that beautiful home prepared for her free from pain and trouble. Her body was too frail and delicate to breast the hardships and racking pains of this life. Gracie was one of the sweetest, most patient sufferers I ever saw. She bore her intense suffering with true Christian fortitude and courage. She never complained but tried to believe she would get well, even to the last. It was double hard to give her up because she prayed so earnestly that she might be spared to live with her sweet little children and husband if it was God's will. We can not understand the ways and mysteries of Jehovah, be we know He doeth all things well. We do not know why death should come to take the dear ones from our home, but tho our eyes with tears be dim, The Lord knows why---we'll trust in Him. Several years ago she consecrated her life to her Master, joining the Missionary Baptist Church, in which she rendered faithful, willing service until she was taken ill. She earnestly endeavored to follow closely in the footprints of her Savior and her daily life was a fitting testimony that she possessed the joy which the world cannot give. She discharged her every duty faithfully and conscientiously and it gave her unspeakable joy to see others confess the Saviour whom she dearly loved. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in distress, to encourage the dispondent with a kind word and sunny smile and to relieve their suffering. Her church has lost one of its most loyal members, the Sunday School one of its most faithful workers, and the town one of its best women. Her sweet Christian life was an inspiration and bendiction to those within the shphere of her influence. Her noble life cast a beautifying, uplifting influence on her friends and loved ones, which will live on and on. There emanated from her bright radiant countenance a pure soul(could not read the next word) by holy thoughts and lofty ideals. The death of one so young and good caused deep sorrow among her wide circle of friends, for by her gentle loving disposition she won the love and friendship of all who knew her. She leaves a heart broken husband, mother, two brothers, a sister, and a dear little baby girl, besides other relatives and friends to mourn the untimely death. Our loss is heavens' gain. We are inspired with the blessed hope and befief that if we live a life as pure and free from sin as dear Gracie lived, we will meet her on that bright celestrial shore where there will be no more tears and suffering and no good byes will be said.
