Hi everyone :) I've been reading the posts and since the topic of KY has come up, now seems to be a good time to send a post ;) besides, the babies are occupied too :) I'm searching for information on the Gardner family in Garrard Co., KY. There is a sad story involved but few specific dates. My g grandparents were Mariah Underwood b. 1873 d. 1947 and William Henry Rigney b. 1876 d. 1963, they lived in Moreland, Lincoln Co., KY. The parents of Mariah Underwood were Matilda Catherine Wilmot b. abt 1847 d. 1915 and Luther B. Underwood b. abt 1845 d. 1924, in 1880, they also lived in Lincoln Co., KY. The parents of M. Catherine were James R. Wilmot b. abt 1823 d. Jan 18, 1882 and Elizabeth Gardner b.? d. Jan 18, 1882. According to my records their first child was Matilda Catherine born in 1847. The deaths of James R. Wilmot and Elizabeth Gardner Wilmot involved a sad story, it was in the newspapers as far as New York. He became depressed killed his mother, wife, two daughters then himself. I believe at the time they lived in Garrard Co., KY. I have a letter written to my g, grandmother, Mariah, from Mrs. Sallie Shelton, postmarked New Florence, MO, dated July 28, 1928. In the letter Sallie Shelton talks about how her husband, Charley (I think), had just recently died, she tells her cousin how he got up from the table and went outside to do some work and they found him in the snow. She says that she has lost her mother, father, sisters and brothers and 3 boys, but then she also talks about how she has 9 children to live for and a daughter Gertrude who is the only unmarried daughter. She also talks about a Gardner Reunion in MO and how it will be at Lizzie Edwards house. The letter is online on my website, www.maxpages.com/generations. This is all I know. Hopefully someone will recognize these names. Thanks for your time:) Rena www.maxpages.com/generations http://OurVisualGenealogy.homestead.com/index.html http://StatesOfHeritage.homestead.com/index.html http://PostcardGenealogy.homestead.com/index.html http://OurPictureGenealogy.homestead.com/ http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/r/i/g/Renamarie-Voron/ @>-^-----
