    1. [GARDNER] Immigrant Gardner ancestor

    3. I was once told the original immigrant was a Jasper Gardner, born about 1675 in Scotland or France. Also, that he came to America in 1700 with an unknown wife, 3 children and a group of Huguenots aboard the French ship "The Peter and Anthony" landing 20 Sept 1700 along the James River in VA. Further, that he had a son Jean Gardner born 1696 who married Mary Pryor. I sought to verify this for myself, since the source was only an email from someone without additional documentation. At the Olive Tree Genealogy site I found a list of Huguenot ships including the Peter and Anthony. Look for yourself: http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/hugship02.shtml. Then tell me which one is Jasper Gardner. Then find where he changed his name and was living with a son, Jean, etc. I've been to the James River, and it would be nice to have an ancestor who landed in such a lovely place. But, I suggest it is better to be suspicious until better evidence is found. Barbara
