Mike, I didn't see any obvious Samuels that would fit into the family information that I have. However, I will send you what I have about my Benoni Gardner (he was born a Gardiner). Samuel could have been a nephew of Benoni's also. I hope that this helps. Obviously, only his brothers are good candidates for the parents of Samuel, and probably just the oldest ones. Happy hunting! - Jean Griesan Benoni (Benonia) Gardner (Gardiner) was born on 25 March 1752 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. He was born to Abiel Gardner and Ruth Shaw. He was the first child born to this couple. Benoni had 10 other brothers and sisters: 1. Dorcas Gardiner, born 10 December 1753. 2. Anne Gardiner, born 24 December 1755. 3. Benjamin Gardiner, born 9 June 1758. 4. Lydia Gardiner, born 16 April 1760, married to Nathaniel _____. 5. Joshua Gardiner, born 12 April 1762, in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut, married Eunice Breed on 15 January 1792. 6. Caleb Gardiner, born 21 November 1763, married first Phoebe Gorton on 30 March 1786, and second, Lydia Thurston on 1 November 1789 in Connecticut. He moved to New York for a while some time after 1793 and then moved to Rutland, Meigs County, Ohio in 1803. Caleb died on 23 November 1823 in Rutland. Caleb had 14 children: Caleb Jr., Joshua, Nady, Thomas J., Charles T., Alfred, Harvey/Henry, William C., Samuel Fowler, Amanda, Patty, Mary, Eliza, and one unknown daughter. 7. Hannah Gardiner, born 22 August 1766, married Ed Thurston on 20 January 1788 in North Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. 8. Martha Gardiner, born 25 March 1769. 9. Abigail Gardiner, born 15 February 1771. 10. Nathaniel Gardiner, born 11 February 1774, married first Lydia Brown on 25 March 1792, and second, Lucy Lamphese on 27 June 1823.
