Monroe's mother's maiden name was GARDINIER; his father was a sailor and may have served during the Battle of Sackets Harbor, War of 1812. Monroe m (1) in 1848 in Cleveland, OH, Ann Eliza SEAMAN, presumably of Jefferson Co., NY. She died in 1851; buried Brighton Cem, across from Jacob's Field (Cleveland Indians Stadium).
