I don't know if I can help you, but there are several things that I noticed. I have a Gardner family that was living just across the Ohio River from Cabell County, WV. They were in Lawrence County, Ohio. I have seen America's name several times, and tried to tie her in to my family - Thomas Gardner who married Chloe Gillett. They had 11 children who mostly stayed in Lawrence County, but several lived in Cabell County for a while. Also, General Putnam is Rufus Putnam, and he was instrumental in surveying Ohio and setting up townships in Ohio. There is a lot of information about him out there. I too have a family note. Mine states that Thomas Gardner, at a young age, lived with Rufus Putnam, or possibly a brother of his. Anyway, good luck! - Jean Griesan > ---------- > From: [email protected][SMTP:[email protected]] > Reply To: [email protected] > Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2001 10:56 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [GARDNER] JOSEPH GARDNER, 1774, Boston Mass to Greenup KY > > I am looking for the parents of Joseph Gardner, The information that I > have > from family papers that have been passed down is the following: > Joseph Gardner b- March 17, 1774, Boston, Mass. a sea-ferring man, owned > his > own ship, a descendant of Thomas Gardner whose ship, the Zouch Phenix, > landed > at Cape Ann, Mass. in 1624.
