The first and original Jasper (son of Jean)who spawned many Gardners throughout the south. And it has to be a male descendant. I feel our Gardners descend from this bunch but can't prove it. Marilyn, since you have information concerning the southern Gardners, would you have a Thomas Gardner, b. 1773, perhaps SC., since he and his wife, Elizabeth ?, left SC and came to Indiana in 1815, where he settled in Washington Twp, Gibson Co., IN. and is thought to be the first teacher in that Twp.? He appeared to have stopped over in PA at some point as a daughter was b. 1811, in PA; other children b. earlier were b. in Georgia, and SC., he had 2 other children b. in IN. Children as follows: Thomas; John 1798, GA.; William, 1804, SC.; Josiah, 1808, SC?; Nancy, 1811, PA; Hugh, 1814, ? ;Sally, 1816, IN., and ;Margaret, 1818, IN. (my g g grandmother). Any information about this family appreciated.
