Dear List, My Thomas GARDNER was born 23 MAY 1787 in MA. He married Mary NORTON of Stamford, CT .in 1811 in Louisiana. This Thomas GARDNER of Opelousas, LA received a letter from his brother, John S GARDNER of Nashville, TN. This is the transcription of that letter: "Nashville, July 21st 1817 Dear brother and sister I imbrac this Opertunity of informing you that I am well at present and I hop you Are enjoying the same blesings I receive word from home laterly And was informed that brother Robert is married to Miss STONMET And I hop god will prosper them in All ther undertakings And I tak the liberty of informing Yo that i amingened to be maried To ms Elia____m. ham we have not set the time I hop I will be able to give yo corect Statement in the next I am making out very well At present hoping __may continue so I wish you to writig to mee as soon as yo Get this I am anxious to hear from yo Nothing mor at present brother until Death Give my complements to all Inquiring friends John S Gardner " Brother Robert did indeed marry a Miss Nancy (Ann) STONEMETS in Cincinnati, OH in July of 1817 and John married Miss Eliza HANS in Nashville in Aug 1817.
