My John Gardner was born in Virginia abt 1755. He married Elizabeth James d/o Edward James in Bertie County NC in 1780. His daughter Eurydice Gardner married George Grimes and moved to Stewart and Sumner Counties in Tennessee then on to Texas in 1827. John Gardner's will was proven in Stewart County TN in 1842. George Grimes was born in Rowan now Davidson County NC. I would suggest that all researchers who descend from this John Gardner contact me and then lists of researchers for certain families could be catagorized, maybe even separated. Good idea. I am with the Isaac Gardner of Ohio crowd, I think, I anyone out there can prove that his Mary is my Mary. I saw a lot of discussion on him before I knew there might be a connection. If someone knows the futherest back ancestor of this line I can identify myself better. Joan Best ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marilynn Masten" <[email protected]> > Great idea! Great idea of sorting out the NC Gardners. Mine in Cabarrus Co, NC were in the Presbyterian part of the county, so I take it they were Presbyterian. In Cabarrus Co. there is a German part and the other is Scots-Irish, so I take it mine were the Scots-Irish. Cathi Gardners NC>MS>Henderson Co, TX by 1848
