Mike, there were Lewis Gardners who went to SC, then to GA, and then to Henry Co., AL, and then to Drew Co., AR. I have been told that these are the clam from which my Lydia (Liddy) Gardner Thurman (b about 1813 in SC) descended; however, the Drew Co. bunch who connect back don't think so. However, my garndfather told me she was, and the Thurmans and Gardners were both in Henry Co., AL in 1850 and in Ashley/Drew Co., AR in 1860 in about the same location. Therefore, this seems to give credence to the family lore I've been told. Anyway, I would appreciate all of you NC Gardners keeping an eye out for my Lydia who could have conceivably migrated from the NC ones.
