    3. Jay Wallace Gardner b. Weston, Oregon 1884 was the son of Eugene F. Gardner b. 1845 in Maine. Eugene F. Gardner born in Maine, was raised in Walworth Co., Wisc. He enlisted in 1862 as a private in Co. D 20th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, before his 17th birthday. He fought at Prairie Grove, Vicksburg, Atchafalaya River, Fort Morgan, Spanish Fort, VanBuren, Yazoo City and Meadowville. He was discharged at Galveston, Texas in July 1865. After the war he returned home and married Lucy Jane Wheeler. They spent some time in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa before moving to Oregon in 1873. [email protected]
