Greetings: Posting "test messages", or asking fellow subscribers to reply to such a message, is not the best way to figure out what is going on if you don't see what you expect to see on GARDNER-L. Please keep two things in mind. First, all messages posted to the list are permanently archived. We really don't need to have our archives cluttered up with "are my messages getting through?" questions followed by many times more replies "looks fine to me". Second, there are about 15 types of problems with list mail, and about 12 of them can't be tested this way anyhow. Here is the correct way to deal with such a problem. 1. First, check your subscription at Password Central from the RootsWeb home page. If you are not subscribed under the address that you give Password Central, then you need to take care of that (you may be *receiving* messages under a slightly different address created by your ISP, for one possibility that happens all the time, and not even know it). 2. Second, try sending an ON TOPIC message to the list. Note the date and time that you send it. Wait at least 24 hours. There are often reasons why messages are delayed by the RW servers; adding "are my messages getting through" queries only clogs things more. 3. If you still don't see what you expect, send *ME* a private message to either darrellm@sprynet.com gardner-admin@rootsweb.com All messages sent to either address come to me personally. I will ask you a few questions and we will go from there. In fact, you may send any question whatever about the list to either of these addresses and I will respond as quickly as I can, usually within 12 hours. 4. As an option, if there is someone who is a member of the list that you have corresponded with before, and that you know won't mind, send that person a *private* message asking if they are getting list mail. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Darrell list admin for GARDNER-L@rootsweb.com Darrell Darrell A. Martin working from web-based Earthlink mail darrellm@sprynet.com
