    1. Re: [GARDNER] another branch of the tree
    2. Hi, I'm a Gardiner which was sometimes spelled Gardner. I'm Barbara (Gardiner) Crabb, b. 1931 in Manchester, NH. My father was Winfield C. Gardiner b. 1903 in Boston, MA. His father was Winfield G. Gardiner b. 1876 in Providence, RI. His father was Henry Clay Gardiner b. in RI and his father was John A. Gardiner b. 1803 in RI. John's wife was Orilla Hopkins. He also had a son named John A. b. about 1840. Since John and Orilla were married 1842 Orilla could be his step-mother. I have another name but haven't checked it out yet. You didn't say where your family came from, so I don't really know if there is any connection or not. If this sounds like a connection, my e-mail is: [email protected] Hope this helps, Barb

    3. Every time I see a Gardner from Ohio my hopes are raised. I am looking for Mary Gardner, b. March 2, 1824 (family record) somewhere in Ohio. (family record, census). Her father is suppose to be Isaac GARDNER. She married John BENNER in Ohio about 1843, had her first child there abt. 1844 (est. from census and family record) They moved to Miami Co. Indiana prob. 1845. The only other thing I know about the GARDNERs is that some of Mary's family ended up in Michigan and or Minnesota near the end of the 1800s (The family remembers an older Auntie Gardner near Mankato, Minn.) Not much to go on. I hope this rings a bell with someone. 3. Hi Barry, I don't know where my Henry Gardner came from, so may as well try Bugbrooke. Do you by any chance have a Henry Gardner who married a Tryphena? Their offspring (that I know of) were Alfred James Gardner and Amy Gardner. I have no dates but Alfred James married in 1900, so was probably born about 1880-ish plus or minus. 2. I have gleaned the following GARDNERs from various county rootsweb pages. Can anyone on the list identify the rest of their families (ancestors or descendants) ? 1. Benjamin Gardner & Peregrine Gardner, Tioga Point/Athens, now Bradford County, PA c.1785 (This part of Pennsylvania is on the border of New York State and the boundaries were not clearly defined during this period.) 2. Caleb Gardner & Capt. George Gardner (son of Caleb), Big Flats, now Chemung County, NY c.1788 3. William, Widow Olive, Caleb, Solomon, & George Gardner, Newtown/Elmira, now Chemung County, NY c.1794 4. Benoni Gardner lived in Brutus (now Weedsport), NY (Apparently there are 2 or 3 Benoni's from New York State who served in the Revolutionary War.) 5. Abiel Gardiner, Hector Township, now Schuyler County, NY c.1802. 6. Paul Gardner who settled in Burlington, NY in 1792, and Caleb Gardner, about the same time or soon after, in the vicinity of Burlington Flats. Burlington was formed from Otsego, April 10, 1792. Otsego, NY is upriver from Tioga Point/Athens, PA. The Chemung/Tioga River enters the Susquehanna River at Athens. Tioga Point/Athens and New Town/Elmira, NY were a main route from the East to the Finger Lake Region of New York State during this period. I figure that any of these Gardners MIGHT be related to Rhodes. I hope someone out there has another snippet of information that would enable me to connect Rhodes with the rest of his family. 2. Hello. The area of which you speak in NC is the samae area that my ancestors came from.I don't know at what age my Samuel and Jane Farr came to Blount county, TN. In this case, I believe that JOHN GARDNER married my great aunt Jane Farr ( Nellie Jane), married and had several children. After a few grandchildren he seems to no longer be with them. He is not buried with the family in Missouri.. Jane lived to be in her 70's. I feel we must have information in common at least. Thank you for your time. chloe Farr Todd [email protected]

    1. Re: [GARDNER] James Pinkney Gardner
    2. I am also searching for a Gardner, with similar ID. His name was JOHN, and he was in Blount county ,Tn when he married my gr frfthr' s sister. He applied for a marriage license on the 17th ofMar and married on the , 23rd of March in 1819. My gr gr Aunt was JANE FARR, sister of my gr grandfather, SAMUEL FARR, who also married there in 1817, to Elizabeth BOREN. The Gardners lived in Monroe County, TN for a time at least. After the birth of sevweral children and a few grandchildren, John is no longer with the family- with now indication whether he died or just disappeared. The remnants of his family, including his wife Jane removed to Missouri. Here are at least part of his children: Solomon, John Franklin, Jacob, Ann, Margaret and Charlotte. These younger children married in Missouri, in Webster County. Jane lived until elderly and died just before 1870 census. I would appreciate hearing from someone who knows something about Jane Farr as well as what happened to JOHN GARDNER. Did he and Samuel serv in the war of 1812 together? Thank you.
