    1. [GARDNER] William Bell Gardner/Robert Lee Gardner Who are their PARENTS?
    2. I have two Census records from Comanche, Texas(1900) and Palo Pinto County(1920) both says the Gardner's were borned in Kentucky. But I can't find any parents listed. William Bell Gardner was born Dec. 2, 1862, and R. Lee Gardner had to be borned around 1865-1868. Both men went to Lafayette County, Mississippi and were married on the same day (June 22, 1884) William Bell Gardner married Sharlott Sorena Bogard. R. Lee Gardner married Sue Bogard. Both girls were the daugthers of John Johnston Bogard and Nancy Cantwell Bogard. William Bell Bogard and Sharlott had one son, Jesse Aaron Gardner born May 1885 (Ms.) Sharlott May Gardner May 1887 (Ms) and Lavena Gardner was born April 11, 1889 in Pittsburg, Calhoun Co. Mississippi. Sometime between 1889 and 1896 Sharlott Sorena Gardner died, and William Bell Gardner remarried Emma Alice Smith in Comanche Co. Texas on Jan. 19, 1896. They had nine children. They lived in Comanche County, Brown County, Eastland County, and finally moved to Freestone County around 1912. William Bell Gardner died January 16, 1932 in Dew, Freestone County, Texas. R. Lee Gardner and Sue Bogard Gardner had two children in Ms. They were Ruth Pearl Gardner born Feb. 4, 1885 in Grass Valley, Lafayette Co. Ms. and John Y. Gardner born in 1888, also in Mississippi. They then moved to Dequeen, Sevier Co. Arkansas were Arch Lee Gardner was born on Jan. 9, 1889. Then they moved to Texas and settled in Freestone County (1895-1898) Comanche or Brown Co in 1903,( that was when Pearl married Walter Elvis Youngblood) then on the Archer County (1910 Texas Census) in 1920 they were living in Palo Pinto County (according to Texas Census) R. Lee Gardner died in 1920 and is buried in or near Grafford, Palo Pinto County, Texas. If the family rings any bells, please contact me at [email protected] Thanks. Sue Hickman P. O. 3. GARDNER-GARRISON Samuel GARDNER, born in Pa. in 1830 was the son of John GARDNER. Samuel went to Springfield, Green County, Missouri and married Frances GARRISON in 1855. Susan Jane GARDNER b. 1836-1837 in Indiana, wed Alfred GARRISON 15nov1855 in Green County, Mo.. I suspect, Susan Jane was a sister to Samuel and as her birth state was Indiana, it would appear that if Susan and Samuel were sibs, there must have been a stopover in Indiana, prior to the move to Missouri, if I am correct. Anyone have a tie in? Thanks, Jim Adams [email protected]

    2. Charles Mercer
    3. Carey: I looked and I find that I don't have anything of value on James Gardner. However, I got interested in your Milkah Gardner and found a book written in 1993 on the very family that you are chasing. The author is Vry, Mary H. & Max J. Gardner. Publisher: Border Press, Brownsville, TX. Title: The Family of William Gardner and Milkah (Chaney) Gardner. I found this book to be available at the Allen County, IN Public Library and also at the Coshocton County, OH Library. It is 303 pages long and is indexed. Maybe this will break through your brick wall. Let me know if it pans out. I would be interested in the ancestors of William. If that detail is presented, please fill me in. Charlie

    2. Griesan, Tom
    3. Mike, I didn't see any obvious Samuels that would fit into the family information that I have. However, I will send you what I have about my Benoni Gardner (he was born a Gardiner). Samuel could have been a nephew of Benoni's also. I hope that this helps. Obviously, only his brothers are good candidates for the parents of Samuel, and probably just the oldest ones. Happy hunting! - Jean Griesan Benoni (Benonia) Gardner (Gardiner) was born on 25 March 1752 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. He was born to Abiel Gardner and Ruth Shaw. He was the first child born to this couple. Benoni had 10 other brothers and sisters: 1. Dorcas Gardiner, born 10 December 1753. 2. Anne Gardiner, born 24 December 1755. 3. Benjamin Gardiner, born 9 June 1758. 4. Lydia Gardiner, born 16 April 1760, married to Nathaniel _____. 5. Joshua Gardiner, born 12 April 1762, in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut, married Eunice Breed on 15 January 1792. 6. Caleb Gardiner, born 21 November 1763, married first Phoebe Gorton on 30 March 1786, and second, Lydia Thurston on 1 November 1789 in Connecticut. He moved to New York for a while some time after 1793 and then moved to Rutland, Meigs County, Ohio in 1803. Caleb died on 23 November 1823 in Rutland. Caleb had 14 children: Caleb Jr., Joshua, Nady, Thomas J., Charles T., Alfred, Harvey/Henry, William C., Samuel Fowler, Amanda, Patty, Mary, Eliza, and one unknown daughter. 7. Hannah Gardiner, born 22 August 1766, married Ed Thurston on 20 January 1788 in North Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. 8. Martha Gardiner, born 25 March 1769. 9. Abigail Gardiner, born 15 February 1771. 10. Nathaniel Gardiner, born 11 February 1774, married first Lydia Brown on 25 March 1792, and second, Lucy Lamphese on 27 June 1823. Nathaniel and Lydia had the following children: Lydia, Eunice, Ruth, Nathaniel, Betsy, Rouse Babcock, Anna, and Gideon. > ---------- > From: Gardner, Michael[SMTP:[email protected]] > Reply To: GARDNER-[email protected] > Sent: Monday, February 12, 2001 2:09 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [GARDNER] Samuel Gardner > > Jean > > Thanks for your response. 3. Charlie, It's good to hear from you. Yes, I would like to have information about James Gardner and his marriage and children if you have that. I'm descended from William and Milkah's youngest child, George Gardner. All I have about James Gardner is his birthdate, 4 Feb 1769. Anything else would be a plus. Our Maryland Gardners seem to be as elusive as smoke in the wind! They must have been amongst the most common of the common folk. Maybe someday, in some state, we'll find a trace of William and Milkah. Lets keep hoping. I thank you in advance for any information about James Gardner you might have.
