I have a Henry born around 1850.....do you know if Janes brother 'A" had any children? Henry's last son was named Alexander. I know it's a long shot but what the heck I thought I'd ask anyway. -- With best wishes from Bonnie Jean, mailto:[email protected]

The marriage lasted under a year as Ina was again using her nee name WINGARD and living with her parents and two sisters in Canton on the 1910 census. Born ca 1873 in Decatur, Adams County, Charles was he son of Ira GARDNER and Caherine SHOWERS. Ina Gail was born in leechburg, Armstrong Co PA and was the daughter of Wall Valentine WINGARD Jr (aka John W WINGARD) and Rosa Emma HEILMAN b 1862 Armstrong Co PA. The WINGARD family removed to Kokomo, Howard Co IN ca 1920. Ina married a second time to Thomas J FARRELL. The couple resided in Chicago, Illinois. Does anyone have this GARDNER family in their ancestry? Thank you, Monette:)

    3. Hello all, I am looking for information on my G.Grandfather Alexander Gibson Gardner. I think he was from Govan or that area. I have him visiting Govan on the 1881 Census. But I am unable to find any informatuion on his birth. He was married to Agnes Doig Milne whose parents were David Milne and Catherine Mcpherson. He was born 1832 and married 1857. At one point in his life he was a Marine Engineer. On his marrieage certificate it states that his ususal residence was Glasgow although at some point they moved to Dundee were Agnes was from and were they had four children. I did find a James Gardner and Margaret Love from Renfew which is not far from Govan but the birth records from LDS show four children George Jean John and Jane the last being born 1821 as Alexander was born 1832 that is a large gap and I could not find any record for his birth. Anyone got any idea's. Thankyou Avril.

    3. Hi Elizabeth, Many thanks for the note. I think on reflection that my letter was a bit misleading. I moved from Kent to Glasgow 30 yrs.ago so there is always a little confusion concerning my roots. Apologies. I go to the National Records Office and the office where all the former records for Strathclyde are kept. If you wish to send me all the info you have on the common name bond (Thomas Frederick) I'll do my best to do some work on him for you. All my folk come from Kent (The Garden of England) so I really do not think that they strayed over the border. Let me know anyhoo. Best wishes from rainy Glasgow Rog

    3. Does anyone have any genealogical and biographical information on the ancestry and immediate descendants of Rev. James and Mary (-----) GARDNER? James was the minister of the First Church at Marshfield, MA. I am working on a theory that his dau., Dorothy, married Ezra-4 WHITMARSH. For more information, please read the message thread below and refer to the MINER and DYER documents at my web site (now in need of updates!). Perry Perry Streeter (mailto:[email protected]) http://www.perry.streeter.com -----Original Message----- From: Harlow Chandler [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, April 04, 2001 7:11 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: GARDNER/WHITMARSH; Plymouth, MA; 1741 Fred and Perry, Fred, I think you are right that there is little room to doubt from the context that "Do" was "Ditto." I don't know if the Dorothy below is the right Dorothy, but the time, place, and her background make her a good candidate I would think. Bowman also published the VR for Marshfield, which is pretty much next to Plymouth, and there are three mentions of a Dorothy Gardner in MD who was born in Marshfield--here's one: "Dorothy, d. of James Gardner and mary (sic) his wife was born January the 21st 1721/22." MD 30:152 One interesting note is that Dorothy's father was Rev. James Gardner, the minister at the First Church, Marshfield. This would fit well, I would think, with the information about Ezra's education you gave, Fred, as Harvard's original mission was to train clergy. How, having said what I have about "ditto," this all fits together I can't say, but I think she could be a Dorothy worth checking. I agree we shouldn't worry too much about the "Mrs." As we know it was commonly used at the time in the marriage records for unmarried women. Good luck, Harlow ***Marriages consummated by Saml. 3. Hi - Thanks everyone for the replies! Roger - I see you are from Scotland. Supposedly there is a possibility that my Thomas Frederick Gardner may have been born there or his parents were from there. On census reports he would list his birthplace as Buffalo NY; however, there were articles about him in the local newspapers that described him as a large man who came to America from Scotland. We are having an extremely hard time tracing the roots farther than him. The data I have is from his tombstone and census records.....but, he was known for his tall tales, so who knows what the truth was!! > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Subject: > > [GARDNER] Gardner > From: > > "Roger Gardiner" <[email protected]> > Date: > > Sun, 8 Apr 2001 14:52:19 +0100 > To: > > [email protected] > > > Hi Elizabeth, > See you're new to the set.
