    3. Greetings, I am seeking information on the surname POINTER or PINTER in Rabun County c1870-80 and hope someone can help. John A. Pointer (as PINTER on 1870 census there) was lasted as a farmer, age 41, in Clayton, wife Elizabeth, w/Anne Carver (her ?sister) w/them. We think he died before 1880 but do not know if it was in Rabun County or in Oconee County, SC. He had been captured twice in the war and his widow applied for a pension later, but again we do not know when or where. Are there any published cemetery surveys, or other material which might help us with his death date? I have not found anything on the GENWeb/RootsWeb archives, etc. other than some descendents being buried in Cherchero Baptist Cemetery. Their children were Isaac, John Jasper, Lucinda & Rhoda. Would appreciate any help or suggestions. Joan Marie in Oregon
