I have been back up to Mtn. Grove Cemetery to verify the wording on the misplaced tombstone. It reads: Andrew J. Martin Wounded Gaines Mill, VA Died Raybun [sic] GA 1862 G.T.H. Sr. G.T.H. R.E.H. This is definitely speaking of a person other than the man who is buried there, which is John Martin, Sr., born 1815 Ireland, md. 1863 Rabun Co., GA to Celia (Selah) Carver, three children (William, John Jr., Mary Ann), died after 1900 Rabun Co., GA. John Sr. is buried next to two of his grandchildren by son John Jr., Thomas (who died as a teenager) and Govie (who died as a little girl). Possibly, the newer stone is referring to a son of the Andrew J. Martin (see the bottom of this page: http://usgennet.org/usa/region/southeast/garabun/1850/330.html) who was born 1814 NC, and not Andrew J. Martin the elder himself as I speculated in an earlier e-mail. If the person(s) who placed this stone would please contact me, I would be most appreciative. Sincerely, Dawn Watson _________________________________________________________________ Say good-bye to spam, viruses and pop-ups with MSN Premium -- free trial offer! http://click.atdmt.com/AVE/go/onm00200359ave/direct/01/
