Can anyone help him locate the church he mentions? Thanks, Dawn >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I am wondering if you, or perhaps Cindy Chandler, can tell me anything about a church called "Riman Church" (spelling uncertain), probably Baptist, which presumably existed in Rabun around 1850. My interest stems from trying to sort out the movements of some Cobb ancestors between Rabun County GA and Pickens/Oconee Co. SC. Specifically, I have a record of some 1851 church minutes from Holly Springs Baptist Church in Oconee County, SC which says that Nelly Cobb was admitted by letter from 'Riman' Church, Rabun Co. The handwriting is unclear, so the spelling is unsure. It may be "Roman", or some other variant. I have been unable to find reference to any church of this or similar name in Rabun Co. Nelly Cobb is believed to be Eleanor (aka Ellen/Nelly) Greer Cobb (b. 1787), daughter of David Greer of Honea Path, Anderson Co., SC, and wife of Robert Cobb, s/o John S. Cobb and Frances Smith, of Pickens Co. SC. Robert Cobb was a brother to Martha Cobb Coffee and Mary Cobb Whitmire, both of whom moved from Pickens SC to Rabun GA in the early 1800's. To my knowledge, Ellen/Nelly Cobb remained in the Pickens/Oconee SC all her life, so I don't understand why she would have needed to transfer membership from a church in Rabun County. It certainly is possible this is another "Nelly Cobb", but in any case I can't identify the church. So, any suggestions? Thanks again for your help, and keep up the good work! -Tom Cobb Bowling Green, OH tcobb@bgnet.bgsu.edu --part1_112.6c055f6.290d927e_boundary Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Return-Path: <tcobb@bgnet.bgsu.edu> Received: from rly-xc05.mail.aol.com (rly-xc05.mail.aol.com [172.20.105.138]) by air-xc01.mail.aol.com (v81.9) with ESMTP id MAILINXC110-1016161329; Tue, 16 Oct 2001 16:13:29 -0400 Received: from smtp02.bgsu.edu (smtp.bgsu.edu [129.1.5.18]) by rly-xc05.mx.aol.com (v80.21) with ESMTP id MAILRELAYINXC51-1016161300; Tue, 16 Oct 2001 16:13:00 -0400 Received: from [129.1.167.116] (dhcp-167-116.bgsu.edu [129.1.167.116]) by smtp02.bgsu.edu (Switch-2.1.0/Switch-2.1.0) with ESMTP id f9GKCmc04350 for <BooleyGirl@aol.com>; Tue, 16 Oct 2001 16:12:48 -0400 (EDT) X-Sender: tcobb@mailstore.bgsu.edu Message-Id: <l03102801b7f23d2e0b5c@[129.1.167.116]> In-Reply-To: <b7.1532ea66.28fcb2ac@aol.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Date: Tue, 16 Oct 2001 16:12:47 -0400 To: BooleyGirl@aol.com From: "Thomas B.
