On Wednesday, November 9 at 10 a.m., the Rabun County Public Library will be hosting a book signing. The book is The Second Georgia Infantry Regiment, As Told Through the Unit History of Company D, Burke Sharpshooters by F. Mikell Harper. It is a wonderful book filled with maps, pictures, and stories of the war from the mouths of the soldiers themselves in the form of diaries and recollections. Muster rolls of each of the companies which comprised this regiment are included near the end of the book. Everyone is invited to attend. I will post more specific information within the next two weeks. For those of you who live in the Rabun County area, we are looking for period artifacts to display during the reception. If anyone has anything they are willing to lend us for the day, please contact me directly at booleygirl@hotmail.com.
