    3. I dug out an old note... this may help I don't know. I am actually connected to the Beck family thru Isaiah Beck's grandfather Jeffrey Beck Sr. I have a notes but don't have any info on this individual. I keep someof this stuff in case I need a good lead. I don't know if it will help but below are a few more notes I found in Isaiah's file I have on him. Carroll County, GA Deed Book E pg 232 Oath of David White that he bought east half of land lot #191 9th Dist. Carroll County from John Hollaway. Deed made in 1835 witnessed by Carter White and William Stewart. Sold the land to Moses Stallings, Stallings sold to Isaiah Beck Jr. Deed delivered when Beck bought the land. Deed kept by James Reeves for Isaiah Beck Jr. Oct 18, 1845. Witnessed: John B. Word, Isaiah Beck on April 24, 1845. HOLLOWAY, BECK Margie Croney Tue Oct 7 07:00:32 1997 JOHN HOLLOWAY b. abt 1800 Ga., mar. to Dorcas BECK (b. 1809 SC) dau.of Isaiah and Dorcas YORK BECK. John and Dorcas were mar. in 1823 Hall Co. Ga. and settled in Carroll Co. by 1830. I am trying to find who was father of John and siblings. I think Solomon Holloway b. abt 1805 Ga., was a brother of John. Solomon mar. Jane CASH. They all lived in Carroll Co. Children of John and Dorcas Beck Holloway: 1. Isaiah Wesley b. 1830 Ga. mar. #1. Harriett E. GASTON, #2. Mary Elizabeth PUGH. 2. Willis W. b. 1833 3. John A. b. 1835 mar Eliz. TANNER. 4. George W. b. 1838 mar. Eliz----?.. 5. Eliza Jane b. 1839 mar. Issac A. HARRIS. 6. Nancy N. b. 1843. 7. Pleasant Man b. 1843 mar. Jemima PATE. 8. Emeline b. 1846. 9. James C. b. 1849 mar. Judia-----?. 10. Bailey Aaron b. 1852 mar. Eliza Jane Whaley. 11. Missouri b. 1854 mar. James Jack Ferguson. 12. Cynthia Ann b. 1856 mar. Rufus Kerr. If there is anyone with info on this family of JOHN HOLLOWAY, I would appreciate any help on his father or siblings. Thanks for your time. Margie. John Holloway, Sr <HOLLOWAY.HTM> John Holloway was born 1800 in Georgia. He married Dorcas Beck August 11, 1823 in Gainesville, Hall County Georgia. They were in Carroll County Georgia by the 1830 census. The 1842 Tax Digest of Carroll County stated John lived in the 11th District and had 202 acres. John and Dorcas had 9 children in their household on the 1850 census, and this number grew to 12 by 1856. He moved to Randolph County Alabama between the 1860 and 1870 census. Four of the children were still with them in the 1870 census of Randolph Co. Alabama. John died sometime around 1875 as his land was being auctioned in April 1875. Dorcas was living with her youngest daughter, Cynthia in the 1880 census. John and Dorcas are buried in the Bradley Family Cemetery near Wedowee, Randolph County Alabama. Their graves have unmarked stones. The land has a marker that indicates: "H.S. Bradley purchased this land in 1887." The Bradleys have no connection to John and Dorcas. The land was probably purchased by them after Dorcas died and her children divided the estate. This information was taken from talking to people who lived in Wedowee and had been told to them by their ancestors who lived there before them. The Courthouse burned in 1897 so there are no wills or deeds available for John and Dorcas. ----- Original Message ----- From: <jjmf3@comcast.net> To: <GARABUN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 8:51 AM Subject: [GARABUN] HOLLOWAYs in Rabun Co. 3. Diane - I too descend from the Beck's... The information that I have indicates that the Beck's that settled in GA originally came from Western NC. I have a lot of records of the Beck's there in the 1700's... There are still many there in Swain Co (Bryson City, Cherokee and the Reservation, etc.) in NC. The Beck's were part of the old Church that still stands in the Cherokee National Forest... The area is called 'Smokemont'... I'd love to sync up and share details with you... Perhaps I can help you, or vice versus... You can contact me directly as our conversation will go off topic of this list.
