Happy New Year & Best Wishes To All: I have every reason to believe that William E. Garrett was my great great grandfather, but I need better documentation than I have. My great Grandfather, Benjamin F Garrett listed on his death certificate as born Oct. 19, 1870 in Springtown, Arkansas, Benton County. It also list his parents as Elisha Garrett & Caroline Daniels & both having been from Georgia. William Elisha Garrett built the first cabin in Big Spring, Arkansas, Benton County. He later named it Springtown, Arkansas. In the Union County Georgia Census, in either 1850 or 1860 census he is listed as Elisha Garrett. I find no record of him ever being married to Caroline Daniels in Arkansas, but believe that he was married to a Asley C. Daniels [Caroline] in Union County, Georgia & that she probably died in child birth with my great granddad or from complications shortly after, because William "Elisha" Garrett marries Mary Ellen Culberson April 06, 1871 in Benton County, Arkansas. this was only a few months after Benjamin's birth & at the time William "Elisha" would have been about 39 years old.
